Georgetown Instrument Lights

I have a 2014 360XL, on a 2013 Ford city truck frame. Should my dash lights come on with the ignition and dim when the park or head lamps are turned on? My instruments light only illuminate when after I turn on the park or head lamps. If this is normal does anyone know what is the easies way to make this happen? On bright sunny days it is hard to read the instruments due to sunlight glare.
Thanks in advance for you information concerning the above questions.

Dash lights are usually tied to the park lights.

On the Ford chassis it is controlled by the headlight switch. It must be in the parking or headlight mode for the dash board lights.

There is a dimmer that controls the intensity of the dash lights. I do it all the time but right now can't remember where it is. Maybe by the headlight switch. You definitely can control it and when up all the way it also turns on the light over the driver's seat as well.
