Thanks Iggy. I think I will call them and AAA. My policy expires in October so hopefully there will be a considerable savings. This Thread was very eye opening. What I also learned was the availability of a RV driving school. As a real novice still that would help if I do decide to keep it. Now to find one close by.

Iggy, I also appreciate this thread. I am paying $1150/yr to progressive, I can't believe some of the other prices I am seeing. I have calls into several agencies now to see how they compare. I want some of that $695/yr stuff. (lol)

Just remember that I have my two other cards with GEICO and also have been with them for many years. Actually they only charge 6 months at a time and not a year. My quote for 6 months was $346.80 for 6 months. ($693.60 a year)
It is still worth a call and see what they quote you.
let us know what happens if you do call.
OH I do not work for GEICO.

Good Luck

Iggy - I just checked my policy tonight with Progressive and for some reason I have a $375 deductible on Comp and Coll, coverage for uninsured and underinsured motorist, total purchase price on comprehensive. The premium before taxes is $1,478. Now our city municipal tax is $170 and state tax is $26 for a total tax of $196.

The comp premium is $572 and collision is $456. It looks to me if there are savings to be had.

Increase deductable to $500 can help a great deal

It really is amazing the different rates for different states for similar coverage. After I upgraded my policy yesterday later in the day my agent called me back to tell me because I added full glass coverage and upped my liability to 250K/500K my collision deduct was dropping to $200 and they were raising the property damage from 50K to 100K. Total for the year $589. I can't complain about Progressive with that price. I would guess they take into account that Rv'ers in Western New York only use their rigs half the year or so.

250K/500K/100K on liability seems to be the norm.
That is a good price for $200 ded.
I wish I had the $200 deductable but $500 will have to sit for now.

As I alway say knowledge is power and it is proving a point when we start comparing apples to apples. Each state can have different laws and higher costs for repairs. That seems what is going on I guess.

This was quite a timely thread for me, as I woke up to an email from GMAC insurance cancelling my RV policy for "non-payment". Kind of hard to pay when you don't receive a bill for renewal, but oh well...

So I shopped around and got the same coverage from progressive for almost $500 less! Still it was over $800 (FL), so I am jealous of you NY guys and your much more affordable rates!

We really get screwed here in FL on all insurance rates since the year that the 3 hurricanes hit....

rxfiller, ahhh, but remember the ridiculous taxes we pay here in the so called "Empire State"! And believe me, the Empire does strike back to anyone trying to get ahead.

2011 Georgetown 280DS, $881 per year, $500 deductible, State Farm. I should mention that rates will vary depending on state, city, age of driver(s), age and model of vehicle, coverages, claim history, other coverages/discounts and mileage.

Iggy - Do you have other vehicles insured with GEICO? I just got another quote from Progressive and they dropped it to $1,023 before state and local taxes. Still seems like a lot compared to the others. I have to check to see if it is becasue of my age.
