GeorgeTown Kwikee Steps Replacement

Well it finally happened, the dreaded sheared bolt on my LCI steps. I am going to replace with Kwikee steps and was wondering if anyone has replaced the old LCI steps (2 step) with a Kwikee (2 step)? What I am looking for is a model number for the Kwikee replacement.

Any help appreciated...

Wayne

Coming back from our July 4th trip and currently have our LCI steps duct taped but looks like it will fail soon as it's a 400 mile drive home, so interested to hear what others have to say. Ours is a 2014 328TS....so is this covered under warranty?

Mine came with the Kwikee... don't know the model # but encourage you to add the additional ground support post to take the strain off the linkage in any case. I use this one...mounted so that it folds in an ACROSS the coach direction rather than a front to rear direction. This is because the steps draw IN level with the ground BEFORE they draw up and the stand post will swing freely and well above the road if you forget it. Opposite from what you see below...it WILL store under the step if you measure correctly!

Steps

I have the three electric steps. Bolt sheared off while on a trip to Tn. only thing I had to tie them up with was a piece of velcro strap that was around my jack pads. Worked for awhile. Got them replaced at Tri Am RV in Tn. They ordered the same steps, but so far so good. Ext Warranty covered the $1,100 bill.

The motorhome step are electric and don't have a stand like yours.

My bolt broke off in Maine on our 2014 Georgetown. It is the 3 step and I fell out of the coach. Talked to Lippert and they will replace it when I can get it to a dealer except I was told there is a 2 month back order for the steps. I full time in the coach and can't stand by at one dealership for 2 months so I will have to wait until this winter to replace.
Lippert now owns Kwikee so the have the monopoly on the steps. For now I went and bought a 1/2 in grade 8 bolt and placed some conduit around it make it fit until I can get the coach to a dealership. It is working better then the duct tape I had around it while we travel.

It's funny how that works. I just bought a new set (2-step) for my 303, but the same supplier had 3-steps in stock. I had them in 4 days with standard shipping!

I believe I have a couple of the bolts that go to the LCI steps if anyone needs one. Just let me know. Also I will be at the rally if you want to pick it up.

I appreciate all the feedback, but no one gave me a Kwikee part number of their replacement. I want to verify before I buy.

thanks

I had my 3 step LCI replaced with the Kwikee. This is the label on the bottom. I am assuming this is the Part Number for the 3 step unit. You might want to double check it.

Iggy...that was a picture from Camco. MY steps are indeed motorized just like every other G'town...but since it is a new model...I got the 3 step Kwick-ees.
After all the LCI problems...I wasn't about to put any stress on the Kwickees and this device takes ALL the weight off the pins and puts it on the ground.

Getting the rig in soon, the dealership wants to see the "issue" before ordering parts.

Camaraderie, thanks for the pics and also on the info on step support. I actually have 2 step supports, couldn't attach it to the LCI steps and I thought it supported the LCI steps but bolt still sheared off. I sure hope the dealership "believes it" when they see it.

I had the dealer replace the 3 step LCI with the 2 step Kwikee. My LCI steps broke when I had one foot inside and one foot on the step. Almost a disaster. If I had not grabbed the outside handle I would have had a bad fall. For al of you that have broken steps, file a complaint on the NHTSA web site. An investigator called me to discuss the problem and I mailed them the broken bolt.

The 2 step Kwikee allows me to park in front of the house with out the steps htting the curb.
