Georgetown performed flawlessly....

on my recent 550 mile trip. Everything worked as it should and I enjoyed my motorhome immensely.

Just wanted to break up the endless stream of rants and problems.

Very nice. Looking forward to my first NASCAR event, on the infield, at the Chicagoland Speedway this weekend. My 328 TS is working very nicely.

I love hearing about the good trips, because I've had very few issues with mine as well.

Just to add a bit more to the trip story, while camping at Rowley's Bay, I went Salmon fishing on Lake Michigan... here's one of the King's I caught...

Make that 2 of us. I'm halfway through a 2000 mile trip and my coach has performed flawlessly. Only glitch was mine. Forgot to monitor propane level. Thank god for BBQ and microwave😅😅

Well this tell me that FR doesn't do quality control on all of there unit but just a few, and the one that don't get picked up for control has limitless problems.

Let me address my point of view on problems with motorhomes. Before buying my used 2012 327DS, I had an Itasca Spirit 25B. That Spirit was bought new and it had minor quality issues that my dealer straightened out, so Winnebago is not immune either. I'm fortunate to have an outstanding, independent motorhome dealer near me. I decided I needed more room and the dealer just had this 327DS come available and it was a unit they had ordered for a customer in 2011. It was the perfect next step for me in terms of size, price and known history. Since I've owned it for the last 6 months, little things have gone wrong... here's the list. Light over Euro chair stopped working, ceiling fan didn't work, main coach thermostat stopped working and rear & side view cameras with monitor not behaving correctly. The light, fan and thermostat were all separate wiring that had came loose from wire nut connections. The cameras & monitor screen misbehavior was found to be a Ford problem with a bent pin in the forward wire harness connector and had to have been there from day 1 but the previous owner never caught it. All these little problems were easily resolved. My dealer has some really good techs!

I noticed in Tilap's previous postings, he listed some of his problems with his unit. Hard to tell what exactly is going on there but one of them he listed is that the steering wheel is not straight. About 5 miles from me is one of the best independent truck frame and chassis experts in the region. I asked about getting a wheel alignment, which they said takes some time to get it right and they have all the fractional shims to get it dialed in perfect.. Ford does not! I asked could they get my steering wheel straight during the alignment and they said... no, the way the front end is designed on the F53 Ford chassis, that it is not possible to guarantee that the steering wheel will be straight after the wheel alignment.

I think that the key to having a good motorhome experience, not just Forest River, is to have a great dealer with excellent techs on staff. I do some of my own work but when I run out of experience, I lean on them and they have never let me down.

I'm sure going forward there will be other issues.... let's face it, these are complex products, with a lot of systems... there are bound to be problems.

Next month will be one year in my 2014 GT 351. 4500 miles later and the only issue we've had was the bathroom sink trim was too short (identified during PDI) and a black tank leak which in all honesty, I may have caused. We love ours and can't wait for our next opportunity to use it.

If you think about all the systems in a motorhome, the living space with appliances, plumbing, HVAC, electrical power management, cabinets and furniture, plus the Ford chassis and drivetrain and then they are able to put it all together and deliver a decent product, at an affordable price point, is simply amazing to me that they can do it.

If someone is expecting perfect quality and they are buying a Georgetown, they are buying the wrong product... they need to be looking at much more upscale coaches... and those cost 5x - 20x more than a GT or other FR product. And the funny thing is, they are not immune from quality issues either.

Overall, I think the FR Class A gassers are an amazing product at their price point. They allow people like me entry into RV'ing and I'm willing to accept the tradeoffs and improve the weaknesses, as I see fit. I went into this with my eyes open though and bought a high quality extended warranty Platinum plan from XtraRide to protect myself.

Checksix, I took my 378xl in to have it aligned. When I mentioned the steering wheel being off by at least 30 degrees they then installed some type of shims on the axle that straighten it to near center. If you like I can ask them what they did to correct the steering wheel to being centered.

Oh, these guys I talked to also use the fractional shims. What they are saying is, they can't guarantee the steering wheel will be perfectly straight when they are done, because the steering linkage isn't the same as in a car. If it's off a bit from straight, it is, what it is.
