GPS recommendation

I am asking what model and make do others recommend.

I have an older Garmin that I like and has done me well. Looking to upgrade to something like the Garmin RV 760LMT or the Magellan RV 9365 LMB.

Any other suggestions and why would help me in making an informed decision.

I have the rv760lmt and love it, hasn't steered me wrong in two years. A buddy has the magellan rv you mention and has had no complaints. Your pick.

Bought the Magellan last year on Amazon for $125 and used it for a trip to Atlanta and Gatlinburg, TN. Worked great and was spot on with turns, exits, tunnels and propane warnings etc. Well worth what I paid.

I have thought about a stand alone GPS but I am not sure what advantage they have VS Google maps on my Moto X.

For the Garmin, it has the RV profile which means... it looks at the height of the rig and then matches that to bridges it can pass under. That would be the biggest difference in my opinion.

X2 on the RV760LMT - GREAT GPS and the RV-specific apps are really nice to have - the GPS will warn you and route you around things like low bridges, switchbacks and weight limitations (Google maps...not so much)

Well I have both but I tell you what the first $100 can buy the piece of junk Magellan. It's a joke and it is new and bought at camping world. Steered me wrong more times than you can mention and you will miss a turn off and maybe 1000ft after passing it will say continue to next turn to get you back on the turn you missed. It takes so long to recalculate (BTW which it will not tell you its doing like the Garman does) Later RJD

The pilot use's a Garmen and the co-pilot use's the Road Atlas and a Trucker's Road Atlas. If a big Rig can go so can I. I hate surprise's Pulling a Toad you can NOT back up. So the Co-Pilot tells the Pilot where to go. Its not the short's way its the scenic way and easy way.

We've had the Garmin RV 760LMT for about a year now and are very happy with it. I do wish the Garmin software for trip planning was better, but I've gotten it to do everything I need.

I really like the "Up Next" feature - it will show you up to 3 categories and how far the next one is. I use rest stops, food and fuel. I've also entered specific names like "Flying J" or "campground" with success, although inconsistent.

I also carry a National Geographic Adventure Atlas that shows all the parks and public lands. An earlier post suggested a trucker's atlas, that's something I need to carry as well.

After the reviews and YouTube I believe I will be going with the Garmin.

I forgot to mention, I originally bought the Garmin bean bag mount but it still bounced around a lot in the RV. I now use the Garmin friction mount and it is awesome!! The GPS unit barely moves.

I have had two Rand McNally GPS units and they both have worked well for us. The current 7630 model seems to do all we ask. It hasn't steered us wrong yet.

We have the 760 LMT. Works as good as any other GPS out there. My wife and I have built in GPS in our car dashes. The Garmin worked just fine. Set it up for your RV and go. Like all GPS you should really know where your going by Map or google or something first. All GPS systems have quirks.

They cost a bit (OK a lot ) more than beanbags and suction cups but they give your TV a very professional finished look for aftermarket electronics. Solid as a rock to boot!
