HD quality poor with Dish & Furrion TV

Our Georgetown 369 came with a Furrion TV. We installed Dish and the HD quality is poor. Our home system is Direct TV with Samsung TVs and the HD looks great. Is the poor HD quality in the RV caused by Dish's HD or is the problem the Furrion TV?

I thing most dish mobile service is standard definition SD. I would start with the Dish and make sure it is HD. When you start the tv it should say the def. prior to getting the picture in the top left of the screen.

there are two different definitions of HD... 1080 and 720...

If you are used to watching 1080 then 720 will not look as good, will have lower definition, although the size of the TV screen will also dictate a lot... 720 looks acceptable to me on say 24" or smaller, but 32" or larger then I want to see 1080.

I believe my Furrion 24" is only 720.

from wikipedia...

HDTV may be transmitted in various formats:

1080p: 1920×1080p: 2,073,600 pixels (~2.07 megapixels) per frame
1080i: 1920×1080i: 1,036,800 pixels (~1.04 MP) per field or 2,073,600 pixels (~2.07 MP) per frame

720p: 1280×720p: 921,600 pixels (~0.92 MP) per frame
The letter "p" here stands for progressive scan, while "i" indicates interlaced. The term, "Full HD" refers to 1080p

The Dish Tailgater antenna displays a 1080i signal. I connected a Visio TV to this system and the picture is good, so the Dish antenna is not the problem. The problem is the Furrion (never heard of it until buying a motorhome) that has poor color and clarity. We will get rid of the Furrion as soon as we can.

Actually, VERY LITTLE content is 1080i. Some. Mostly ESPN. Almost all HD broadcast content is 720. Practically nothing is 1080p.

My tv's upon startup all say 1080i.....meaning they are ready to accept that. But there is little of it to accept.

720 will get you by in almost all cases. It's when it says 480 that you are into SD mode. When you say "Installed the Dish", those words could mean a whole of different things.........some of which would result in SD quality.

My guess it is the Furion. In addition to our Furion TV, we have the Furion "entertainment" center that includes radio, dvd, connection to the tv and ceiling speakers. When I tried to play a Blu-Ray DVD it would not play with any of the settings that I used, but non-Blu-Ray would . I contacted Furion and they said they don't support Blu-Ray on my system or any other that they offer. From that I would guess that the TV is inferior as well.

We replaced our crappy TV's that came with the motorhome (they were 720p) with the same sized 1080p Samsungs that we got at costco for about $150 each. I don't recall if they were Furrion but they weren't something I had seen before)

It was a little bit of a pain because we needed a different bracket (the no-brand TV had an odd-size custom bracket in the living area, and in the bedroom it was screwed to the cabinet) but they work awesome now. Sometimes the picture is grainy, usually due to a poor connection with the satellites. Most times it looks fine.

Good luck! (and check the bracket size...!)

I use Dish at home and when we travel we take our recievers with us (VIP 211's) and use king tailgater portable dish. Output one on the KING is HD output two is SD.
And yes the Furrion TV's are cheap junk.

I have the King Dish Tailgater and the trailer has two FURRION TV's (50" and 32"). I get excellent picture on both. If you are having bad pictures, I would question the cables. Just for fun run a different coax from the dish into the trailer (its just a temp test, so through a window if you must). Connect the satellite box with a new HDMI cable to a different HDMI port on the TV. Now check the picture. If it's better, you issues are cable related. If it's not then you could have a bad satellite. If you suspect the satellite, take it and the cable box home and connect to a different TV.

When my trailer was new, I had reception issues and it ended up being loose coax connectors throughout the trailer. Easily fixed and now both TV have great reception and picture. I have yet to find an issue with either FURRION.

hbillsmith, I used a different HDMI cable and connected a Vizio TV to the Wally receiver in the RV and the picture was good. I connect back to the RV's Furrion TV and the color is poor and the clarity is poor. I agree with the above comments that Furrion is "crappy" & "cheap junk". After seeing FR put crappy and cheap junk ceiling fans in both bathrooms in our 369, I am not surprised to find they also install a crappy and cheap junk TV. Does anyone else have an opinion on Furrion TV's?

Yes. I have an opinion BUT it's regarding DISH. We HATE IT!! Every darn time we move, they LIE!! Takes me several calls to get LOCAL CHANNEL signals. Recently, 3 calls; 6 re boots to get them. Finally got a young lady who said: " where are you???" I told the lady 2 rep I was in Dahlonega, GA.
She says: ohhhh....they never switched it from SANTA ROSA BEACH FLORIDA......DUHHHH!! Why did they think I was calling ? To chat??
They are good about on/off/on for different areas. Not so good getting: ABC; NBC; CBS [emoji90][emoji90]

We use second receiver from home and Winguard portable for Dish. Have great picture on the Furion. Replaced bedroom Furion to a smart tv, and see no difference on tv pic. Did notice smart tv picks up more channels on OTA signal. Did have issuer when we first tried to use satellite, turned out to be loose cable in wall at splitter as outhers have mention on this formun. Replaced the rv Furion to smart tv to use Bluetooth feature on DW camera. Nice to look at the days pics ion big screen!
