Heading out for my shakedown cruise.

Heading to San Diego area for 6 days with my new Georgetown.
The only thing I have learned is that the 4 door refrigerator takes a lot longer to cool down than my little one I had in my 5th wheel.

Weather should be great 55 at night and 75-77 during the day and sun, sun, sun.. Yah

Thanks all for your good wishes.
I have a list of things to take and have gone over it twice.
I'm 99.9% I can handle any of the small issues.
We will take pictures and my DW will be in the right seat so I'm sure I will get a few lesson is driving this 37.5 ft rig weighing some where around 24,000 lbs. LOL

Hope your trip went without any problems.I taking mine out next week,have spent more time working on than using,to day found trim above drivers side was kind of loose and made noise when move.Easy fixed,they put rubber foam strip between panel and fame it is screw into.Problem on drivers side had only about 3" of trim must of been end of roll,they screw panel down with most of it missing.

The 700 mile trip did very well. The Georgetown drove better than expected and averaged around 8 mpg without towing anything but did have head wind, side wind and not much tail wind.

I did find out that my RCA DVD surround sound cheapy system didn't read any DVD so that was added to my list.
I also found out my main sewer gate valve leaks and my DW found a crack in one of the pull out draws facier under the sink.

Everything checked out ok. AC units, fans, fireplace, washer/dryer, shower, microwave, TV.Ran my electric hot water heater and never ran out of hot water and I tried too when I took my looooong hot shower.
The autolevelers had to be tweaked a little but that is expected. I just zeroed it out bt the instructions. Works great.

So all in all not a bad trip

We went to Oceanside last week and froze our butts off! Not used to the humidity anymore.

Great trip and minimal problems, priceless. Just turned 1year old on my 360 and did 2100 miles to Vermont and back. 7.2 mpg, Mountains and towing, average. Coach did well, you are right about the fridge, thing takes for ever to cool down.

We picked up a 2007 378 with 11,000 miles last Friday. Really like it so far. I thought all motorhomes rode like the 2000 Mountain Aire 38 footer we traded in. I think the suspension was due for an overhaul on the Newmar. Ford's Tow/Haul transmission is a great improvement over the old one.

I haven't used the tow haul mode at all during my trip to San Diego area.
If I was in the mountains at low speed with turns and stuff maybe.
How do you use it?

On steep down grades just push button on end of gear shift leaver, the mode over rides gears on tranny and selects best gear for the grade, works very well although there may be some conflict with some aux brakes in toads miss reading the grade and applying too much brake.

You have to watch it when you're on cruise control though. It will downshift seriously. But going down hills, it's fantastic. Touch the brake and it downshifts. Same thing when you want to slow down coming to a stop. I've never driven an Allison, but I figure this one must be quite similar.
