Heat Buildup in Front Basements when Traveling

New-bees....we just did a quick weekend down to Gulf Shores. 2014 -378 Georgetown. When arriving home I went to remove some items from the front basement compartments near the front wheels and engine/tranny area. Items were EXTREMELY HOT to the touch. Is this normal heat buildup due to engine and exterior road heat. Had charcoal and light fluid in one....will move that to be safe. Thanks thom and debbie

It's normal from all the engine heat. I doubt it gets warm enough to ignite anything.

Can anyone suggest a good fix for the heat that is transferred to the floor, from the engine, while traveling?

Heat rises -- hard to stop that. A previous gas coach I had some previous owner had lined the inside of the motor cover with what looked like foam then covered that with sheet of what looked like aluminum foil. Probably helped

Previous diesel pusher had the bed on top of the motor. It would get so hot in the summer you would have to wait a couple hours before using the bed. Worked well for cool weather traveling tho.

Our present coach must have better insulation as we don't notice any heat transfer in it.

Traveling in summer conditions will heat up all compartments. Especially ones near the motor. Never thought it get hot enough to ignite anything. When we stop after driving in 90 degree day our upper cabinets are extremely warm compared to the inside of the coach. Never notice much in the basement tho.
