Heated Mirrors Malfuction

Turned on the heat switch to clear the mirrors and after about 5 minutes I smell plastic getting hot. No fuses blown because of it. Have a 2011 360. Any suggestions .

Sounds like a short.

Yea, I know not much help, but the element is in the glass.
Check for loose wire connections in the mirror, door, or fuse block.

there is a BRASS looking flat heating element within the mirror itself.
only thing to really do is order a new heated mirror head.
there not to bad to replace but the hardest part is re-running the wires to through the hole the old ones came out of.
easiest trick I know of is to disconnect wires inside cabin and sucurely tape a lenght of "light fencing" wire to the end .
And as you pull out the old wires the fencing wire will come with it .
cut old wires off and re-connect the new wire to fencing wire and pull back through .
good luck .

The only thing that bothers me is the "plastic smell"
That would be inside the cab, no?

Let me know what you find.
Id be curious if there might be a loose connection at the switch .
If not I'd expect one of the mirror heads drawing way to many amps and over heating the weakest link "the switch"
