Heater quit working. Good grief what a trip.

Ok the furnace was running and then poof it just quit. It is cold here. What else could go wrong. Anyone know any secrets. I am new and this is driving me crazy.

Nope full tank. My gosh everything is going wrong and this is brandnew.

Are you plugged into shore power in a park or running on batteries. If low batteries the furnaces will cease to opperate at 10.4 volts. If you don't have hookups and it's cold you won't last one night on the two batteries that are stock on motorhomes.

I am plugged in a park. It worked for a bit then quit. No if I put the thermostat low and raiseit up it kicks on for a second the fan but no heat then kicks right back off.

Sounds like the sail switch in the plenum.

It is a safety device to shut down the heater if the blower fails for any reason.

If you can get access to it, maybe you can jumper across the leads with a spare 15 amp fuse or something till you can get it replaced?

When ours flamed out like that and refused to burn after that, I ended up taking it out and servicing it on the bench. It ended up being rust that clogged up the Jet. I cleaned the jet and blew all the rust chips/dust out of the lines all the way back to the propane tanks. Works like a champ.

It could be many things though.

I keep forgetting that not everyone on the forum has a late model camper. Older units come with their own set of issues.

I have sen spider webs inside the gas tube that will stop the gas from making it to the ignition point.
I bet you have some crud inside the tube.
Inspect and clean.

I hear ya Lou, but keep in mind that this can happen on a brand new rig as well. All it takes is one little piece of debris to plug jets up. Could easily get a piece of crud in there during assembly of the gas piping system on the camper.

I've had a gas regulator frost up on me before. Not sure of the physics involved here, but it seems the colder the outside temp, the more likely the regulator is to freeze up. The last time this happened to me was probably 20 years ago so maybe newer regulators are made to avoid this problem somehow.

Just went through this myself. If you have two AC units with two thermostats, BOTH MUST be placed in the heat position. My problem was a voltage issue. Our unit is a 2008 purchased new one year ago. It sat unserviced and unsold for 20 months. Bad battery(ies) was the culprit sapping power from the convertor even when plugged up to shore power. Replaced batteries, furnace works great. Everything these days has a circuit board and are so voltage sensitve..! Buy a volt meter and learn how to use it properly. It will save you lots of anguish.

Crochetlady, where are you!?!? You had so many problems and were sounding so frustrated. Please let us know how all this turned out. It really sounded like you purchased from someone that failed to give you proper orientation. Hope all is well..!
