Help on Installing Shower Faucet on GT 378

I have a 378 and replaced my shower water valve through the 4” access port with absolutely no problem what-so-ever. The water lines have a 90 degree fitting and a rubber cone compression washer. Finger tight is all that is required. Had more trouble getting the lock nuts off the old valve.
I did silicon the backing plate of the new valve, put a bit of pipe thread putty on the new valve stems and installed. Whole job about 15 minutes. No leaks and that’s been about 3 yers ago.

Scrapper Just checked and you're right. The faucet locknut will not go over the 1/2 " end of the flexible water supply line - so no back up plan. We 'll have to hope hand tightening we did was enough or if not I can snug things up with the strap wrench or channel lock .Really hard to manouver back there with a tool especially when you can't see.

Just wanted to update everyone on this and I apologize for delay. For reasons that I won't get into I wasn't able to tackle this until this past week end. I was able to sucessfully change out the faucet. I cut the existing pex lines at a point across from the inspection opening . I pretaped faucet threads with plumbers teflon and secured it with the locknuts to the shower wall ( hand tightened as hard as I could by hand) I then attached a 12" domestic faucet supply line first by hand to the faucet . I took a small ( 6") adjustable wrench and was able to manouver it arround the connection and tighten it ( firm but not crazy tight). The pex valves went on the pex lines and the 3/8 end of the faucet supply was installed on the valve .
Installation was done over a long weekend with no hint of any leaking over the rest of our stay at the campground. If anyone wants pics and can tell me how to post them ( multiple ?) let me know .

Wow, a lot of work for a simple fix. Glad you got it and are happy with the results. As mention in my previous post it took me about 15 to 20 minutes to change mine out in our 378 through the access hole.

Thanks . Glad you were fortunate to use existing pex fitting. No matter how much we tried I could not get our old fitting on for the cold water to tighten enough to stop leaking. Hence the different approach
