Help with idea for Cable

Hello, we presently have Dish on top of our Georgetown (antenna) We purchased the receivers inside our motorhome. We are so SICK of the cable companies. How can we take out cable and do something else to get in many channels. Probably need a router for each tv. I have WiFi on my smart phone. Surely would appreciate suggestions and directions. Thanks, Donna from Iowa

We purchased a streamsmart a few weeks ago and just last week cut the cord with Dish. We get all our shows streamed now along with live tv on most channels.

How did you do that. What did you have to do to have it happen?

I bought it at a local RV show. streamsmart.tv is their web site. Just needs wifi or ethernet and an open HDMI port on your tv.

There are similar and much cheaper versions out there so I have learned but it works, was easy to setup and have excellent support if something is not working.

Most RV parks don't have the bandwidth to support streaming and many block campers trying to stream.
I'll stick with my King DISH Tailgater and not interfere with folks trying to get their email and search for places to visit.

Smartstream is soooo overrated! You can buy a MXQ box on amazon or eBay for $40 that does the same thing. All it does is run kodi on an android platform. Paying $400 for that box is insanity!

It may be over rated, but works and works well. I have used my MiFi here at home to test and it runs well.

DO you run a VPN or just stream?

Both. I also added a hard drive with all of my movies on it. I have 3 in my camper at each tv and its great for the kids on rainy days.

My MXQ works perfect too without the need to spend $400.

I meant just the streaming part. DO you use a VPN (for anonymity) or just use your regular internet?

I may try an MQX box in the future. Guess I need to look at how involved they are to get setup and such with all the add ons.

When the channelup app gets shut down, and it will very soon a vpn will not help at all. They will already have your login information. Channelup is already illegal. Running a vpn really will not help you.

Yeah, I do not use channel up. Not a fan of giving any personal information to these off shore places. I find myself on specto or exodus mostly, but that has been glitchy of late.

There were problems with Exodus this past week (I like Specto). Try Zen, it's a good add on with lots of HD links, if you have problems with the first two.

The operator or owner of exodus retired so they have been scrambling.

It may have to do with what version of Kodi you are running also. I believe I read that people were having problems with 16, but not 17 or 17.1. If you buy a box make sure it has Android 5 or preferably 6.0. You cannot run Krypton with Android 4.4, which is still being sold by some box sellers.

I believe 17 is the issue, 16.1 is the stable version.
