Hot water tank issue

I have turned on our hot water tank by flipping the on/off switch on the inside control panel for the first time In our 2015 351ds Georgetown...I made sure the tank was full and the valves were open and all I get is a red reset button light with no hot water...any suggestions?

Hot water tank issue

My red light comes on when I first turn it on, but after the burner lights and heats the water, the light goes off.... I haven't ever had a concern with it NOT working...

Ok...maybe I am ignorant so forgive me, but do I have to light an igniter...I thought it was automatic...also I was trying to run it electrically not by propane method?!

Off of shore power there is nothing to ignite.

What brand name heater do you have?

Does it have a on/off switch?

You do nothing for now, it will take a bit before you have hot water.

If you wish you can use both gas and shore power to heat the water faster but why burn thru the propane.

First, Welcome. Hey we were all new at some point.

Your water heater runs off two sources. #1 is propane and #2 is electric 110volt.

With your propane tanks turned on at the valves lite a stove burner to purge any air from the lines. Make sure your hot water tank is full of water by running a hot water faucet until air is purged or you could use valve on the hot water heater. Flip the switch on your control panel and that should light the hot water heater on propane.

If you are hooked up to "shore power" (camp ground power) you could choose to flip the switch on the hot water heater and heat with electric.

If you want to heat water faster turn both inside switch (propane) and outside switch (electric) on.

With the propane switch on you should be able to hear the burner and feel heat at the vent on the water heater.

Like Ford Idaho said why burn both. If your at a camp ground and paying for the electric why burn the propane other than to get faster heating like when taking showers.

Oh, and dont forget to turn off the electric switch on the hot water heater. I try to remember to turn it off before unhooking from campground power. If not you risk the chance of burning out the element.

This was a little confusing for you, probably. There are two methods of heating the water. 1st is 115 volt electric. That is controlled by the on/off switch located on the lower left side of the water heater outside. 2nd is the propane. That is controlled by the on/off switch located inside. Turn that switch on and you get a red light. Wait several moments and the red light should go out. That indicated that the heater has lit off on gas. If you are on a power pole then use your 115volt electric and save your propane. Or if you have 4 or 5 folks taking a shower one right after another than have both on. It will reheat the water a lot faster.

I've never had issues with the water heater, but it seems I may have a burnt bulb. I say this because since day one I flip the inside switch to on and shortly after it fires up on LP. The switch itself is black unlike the others that light up for the water pump and arctic pack. There is a red cover right next to the water heater switch that is marked WATER HEATER RESET. It has never come on even after having to reset one of the CBs on the water heater itself.

I might be wrong but I thought the water heater light only stayed on if the water heater didn't light off the propane

That's what I thought, but from what has been posted it comes on until it lights up. Ours has never come on ever. We are out camping as we speak, and when we got to the park on Friday I flipped the propane switch and thought everything was fine, but an hour later no hot water. Went out and had to reset the right side CB on the tank. No lights inside.

That red light should have been on. It is an indication that the switch is on and the water heater has not fired off. When first turning the switch on the red light comes on and then will go off. It will stay off if the heater functions normally (heater ignites). It will come back on as an indication that the heater did not ignite and reset the switch to start the sequence again. You indeed may have a burned out annunciator or bad interconnect.

Thanks, that what I thought. I'll have to check the bulb and connections. Will post what I find.

Mine does come on momentarily until the water heater is lit.
Off topic but how hard is the bulb to change? The one on the water pump switch has quit on mine.
