How do you turn the electric on to the hot water heater in the 351 DS

Where is the switch to turn the electric on for the water heater in a 2015 351DS? The switch on the control panel only turns it on in the propane mode. The model is SW6DE.

You have asked a question that is often not really gone over in detail during dealer PDI's.

Here is a detailed tutorial that should help:

Found it thank you. 1st trip out with it picked it up Wednesday 4-29-2015. My wife says I'm just a surface looker. But in my defense it was covered by a tag

Don't feel bad.
I resemble this.
My wife calls that "male pattern blindness".
I will look right at something and not "see" it.
Says me - Hey, I DON'T see it!
Says her - Here it is, and puts my hand on it...
Duh

I have the same water heater in my Windjammer. Found the same switch. Does it have to be on if you are running on gas to heat the water? I have been just filling the tank and then turning on the water heater switch on the inside control panel.

Thanks

No, that switch is for the electric heating element only. The inside DSI switch is what you use for the propane part.

This explains the two different switches and modes of water heating:

I have found that if the electric is on and the water reaches temperature, the propane side will not turn on....the burner will not light though I have not checked to see if the reverse is true.

Yes it is true, If it's the same temp and shut off it will not come on with the electric. they both have the same temp disk or limit if you want to call it that. Even through one disk is for propane side and one is for the electrical side. That is why you can use them both for a faster recovery. Once it hits the temp no matter what degree you have in 120 or 130 they both will shut down. And then come back on to reach temp again.

...though the question is will they both come back on....if that's the case. It's something I do not want....faster recovery is fine but I can wait. I usually, depending on the cost of propane where I am at, alternate between electric and gas just to make sure both are working properly....it's a back up or a cost saver.
