I-75 or I-65 route?

There may be another thread regarding this question, but I didn't find it. Can anyone tell us if the condition of the roads are better with I-75 or I-65? From the mapquest info., it looks like the route from Atlanta is about the same using either route, but would like to know if either route is in better condition than the other. We really hate rough roads!! Appreciate any help. Thanks.

We prefer the 65 route over 75 when traveling from Michigan to Florida. And just a side note, we live only a mile from 75.

I personally don't care for Louisville so we take 75.

Where are you headed for? I see your from east side of Atlanta so I'd think route 75 would be the choice and not much difference in road conditions. Later RJD

I would agree. Even at 6AM a hassle!

Avoid Nashville and Louisville, take I-75. Good road, a little construction south of Berea, KY but 2 lanes are maintained so no traffic problems

From my perspective Detroit, Cincinnati, Lexington, Knoxville and Atlanta are all worse so I'll stay on 65. But just my opinion.

Prefer I-65 and Highway 231 to I-75

I guess you are headed to Florida. When we go to Punta Gorda or we use I-65 to Montgomery, Alabama and then cut over to I-10 on US 231 which will run straight into Panama City Beach. This avoids having to drive through Atlanta, which we positively hate and it also by-passes those steep inclines and declines through the Smokies. I-65 used to be horrendous in Bullit County but has seen a complete overhaul of late. Hwy 231 is a four-lane highway and much quieter than the interstates. This route adds about 30 mile on a route totaling almost 1100 miles, so no big deal.

Going to be kind of hard for them to avoid Atlanta seeing they are just east of the big city right off I 20. Later RJD

I-75 Construction

We just drove from Cartersville GA to Toledo OH a couple of weeks ago and had very few problems on 75. As previously stated, there was some construction South of Berea.. Other than that the worst was at Ohio River crossing from KY to OH. They had only one lane for 75 and one lane for 71 crossing the river bridge.. I am sitting here wearing an Ohio T-shirt (my home of record) and they undoubtedly had the worst roads on the interstate.

Trade Off

I'll trade Indy, Louisville, and Nashville to avoid Dayton, Cinnci, and those mountains any day. Just sayin.

I have never seen so much highway construction in my life. You're going to find it everywhere you go. But, I have to say that's a good thing. Personally, I like 75. It seems to have lots more fuel stations and Wally Worlds.

Thanks a lot for the info. Actually, we are now living in McDonough, GA - just forgot to change personal info. We will be heading to Goshen, IN on Wednesday to attend the rally. We were not sure whether one route would have better maintained highways than the other. We appreciate all the responses.
