Yes, they use zip codes to see if you have a high crime rate or something like that. I don't think they steal motorhomes but I have heard of two that were stolen from storage.

There are several factors that determine the premium, Storage Location - by State and by Zip Code, Type of Use - Full-Timer vs. Recreational, Discount for Multiple Policies with a Company, Deductible Options - a Higher Deductible Equals Lower Rates, Type of Unit, Age, Driving History, Insurance Claims History, Home Ownership Discounts, Marital Status, and a biggie, Your Credit Rating. Seems with all these varibles the only way to know is get quotes. Turns out in my case, the carrier I was with for many years, wasn't competive at all, so I went with the guy who offered the coverage I wanted for the cheapest price. Mine dropped in half, going solo. However, my carrier where I hold my other insurables, car, house decided to penalize me, by taking away multi-vehicle discounts, for not have all vehicles with them. Good luck!

Insurance is an evil necessity.

Our 2007 Georgetown has never been more than $150 with GEICO when new and on the same policy with our two cars. I don't think anyone beats Geico!

Agree, our insurance was higher when we lived in Central FL. It was due to all the bad tourist drivers along with older folk that do not belong on the roads. No State taxes though. DW and I will be moving back either this summer or early 2015.

There are usually lots of insurance companies at the RV shows. I'll be bringing a copy of my coverage declaration and bill with me to shop around at the Florida RV Supershow next month.

I'm telling you, GEICO is the best out there. I don't work for them or know anyone that does so I'm not promoting them for selfish reasons. All I know is that their representatives are always super nice and speak perfect English. I tried comparing their policy with different companies and no one could beat them. I even went with one of those third party companies that do the leg work for you and even they could not beat GEICO.

Carried our Insurance for years on our old DP with Progressive. For a '90s model coach, the last premium on it was slightly under $600/yr. When we traded for the Solera, we simply converted the policy. Got our new bill it was "slightly under $1000/yr. Checked with a policy through GoodSam and premium was $480/yr, with pretty much the same coverage!!! So.... we are now insured with a company under the GoodSam group coverage.

Just purchased a 2014 360XL, checked with lots of insurance companies, found Good Sam to have the best deal at $630 a year and you can put the insurance on hold if you winterize and are not using it. But I also agree it has a lot to do were you live, Im in PA
