Insurance Shopping Time

Well, just got the insurance renewal form for this year and they jacked it up by almost $400! The insurance rates here in Florida are completely out of hand.

We have a 2008 373, and I would like to know where you folks have found good deals - particularly those on the forum who live in Florida.

The house just went up $600/yr. Now the RV is following suit. Kind of unbelievable.

Any carrier suggestions are appreciated!

I have Hartford through AARP, and have found it to be the least expensive of any. I had a couple of comprehensive claims, one with the motorhome and one with my wife's car, they were great to work with and took care of business. No rate increase, either. I live in California, so to tell you what I pay would not apply to Florida. Apples and Oranges, no pun intended.

It's all related to making money. If they have lots of natural disasters they have to payout so they raise everyone's rates. I've been with the same company for over 40 years because no one can beat my rates or coverage.
This month I saw an increase of about 4% which I'm not complaining but when I asked why they said they had to pay out a lot this past year.
Wonder if I can buy into that company and like dividends at the end of the year. lol

I'm a Florida resident, and use Blue Sky Insurance that I purchase through Lazy Days RV in Tampa. I printed out copies of my RV and toad declaration pages and took them with me to the Tampa RV Supershow in January for comparison quotes. I could not find anyone who was cheaper for the same coverage.

Now, as to whether or not Blue Sky is any good, I do not know. I'm one of those people who pays for insurance, and never seems to need it. Hopefully, I'll never find out...

A couple of years ago changed everything over to Texas Farm Bureau Insurance (no you don't have to own a farm). They beat every policy we had, home owners, auto, Motorhome, Umbrella and farm/ranch land. I had priced out the same policies with just about all the companies that I could think of including with AARP.

When we sold the motorhome and went back to a 5th wheel they are still unbeatable in coverage and premiums.

I checked Google, there is a Florida Farm Bureau Insurance. May want to give them a call.

I don't think there is a definitive answer to insurance quotes. Progressive was nearly double from my current Geico policy.

We have all of our vehicles with Progressive. My niece has an insurance business that sells multiple carriers.
One thing I learned from her is the cost of ones insurance depends on the state and zip code. Carrier X might be cheaper in one area than carrier Y and then the complete opposite in another area.

SafeCo here, beat everyone else by a mile. And yes, my home owners went up about 1000 because "they had to pay out so much this year". I wish I could tell my boss that, "Everything going up, so I have to charge you more to work here."

We bundled everything through Country Financial. They were reasonable. My father in law has Progressive and Geicko (sp). His is higher than mine but he also has an Open Range which is more expensive than my Puma.
