Is the convection oven worth it?
Is the convection oven worth it?
OK.... I don't expect you to answer me so go ask your dear wives the question and get back to me.
We are considering replacing our microwave with one.
I think they consider then a combo microwave / convection oven.
Is this right?
Hopefully it will be a plug an play install in my 2012 378ts.
What make and model please.

I'm not asking DW cause I'm the cook in the family . IMO microwave/convection ovens are great. We have one, plus the oven in our stove is convection. They cook just like a regular oven but more evenly and quicker. They have a regular plug so 'plug and play install' is easy. One word of caution, because you can cook at high temps in a microwave/convection make sure you have adequate ventilation top, sides, and in the back.

I (the DW) love the micro/convection.... so much that during our kitchen remodel I got one for the sticks-n-bricks!!!

We have one in the Beast and feel it's the only way to go. Most of the time camping I'll grill outdoors, but for nachos or other indoor meals it's great. Furthermore we really like the extra storage not having an oven gives us. In the 10 years we had our Jayco TT, we never used the oven just the cooktop.

I do like the oven when I'm in the mood for a soft cookie, though.

A convection oven is basically an electric oven with a fan to circulate the heat. So yes it browns the meat.

However big your oven unit is. Our old 2004 Fleetwood popup came with a micro/convection oven and a cooktop but no regular oven. The space the regular oven would've taken up under the cooktop was turned into a storage cabinet which added alot of space.

We have one in our house and I can't tell much difference in it and the regular oven. Maybe I just don't cook the right things. My wife doesn't seem to be sold on it either.

Ours is a Sharp combo in our 2011. After getting a little use to using it, it works just as good for us as the gas oven found in rvs. Seems to have much better temp control, is a little faster in it's cooking and a great deal more storage space under the cooktop. Think it's all about just getting comfortable with the new technology.

Thanks. I found a BOSCH model that has greeat reviews but costs $600 plus bucks! Stainless over the range version. Same exact size for install as the Sharp.

We also have the Sharp combo model in our 2011' and it works fine. It's taken a little to get used to the technology, but we like it. Went to a seminar at Lazydays last year which helped the learning process!

Can you tell me if it is vented to the outside or not?
Also if you have the model number I'd like to look it up.
