Kitchen Counter Cracked

Hello all,
Wife and I purchased an 07 Georgetown 349xl last May, 6000 miles and is "like new"...except that the kitchen counter is cracked at the end, about 4" or 5" from the stove. Crack runs parallel to the end of the counter. I'm not sure what the material is (corian?) but would anyone have any suggestions on either fixing this or hiding it by putting something over it....maybe make it look like a "stop" to separate anything on the counter from the burners on the stove. Wish I had a picture, but the bus is sleeping in the pole shed and I have all the battery cables disconnected and batteries on the battery minder, so no lights. Suggestions? Attached the brochure for the 2007 year.

Try your dealer they may be able to help..........

Friends has their 06 camper broken into last year at their home ..the thief stood on the counter to get the TV down & broke the counter top. The dealer (& insurance) replaced it like new............................

Good Luck

Any local cabinet shop that fabricates their own counter tops will do a better job/price that a dealer.

bingo.

if you went the DIY route - rustoleum makes a countertop refacing product. you would need to fill the crack first with putty and sand smooth.

but for the labor - i would just talk to a local cabinet shop.

I would check both the cabinet shops & the dealer. Around here the cabinet shops were twice the cost of the dealer.

Able to get a couple pics of the countertop today. Bright sunny day so I opened the doors on my shed and let the light in. The crack shows up very good, even tho it's just an Iphone pic.

Definitely Corian ………….. It looks like a clean break.. Should be repairable. But the question now is, why did it crack? I would guess that the counter top is not laying flat, on top of the cabinets . Most likely there is a dip or bow. Or not enough support across the back side of the corian top along the wall. The cook top may have pushed down on the dip or bow and caused it to break.......

Crusader is correct. You do need to find the cause, however the top is quite repairable. The color looks like Corian Savanah I believe. My company is a certified fabricator of Corian and based on what I see there should be no problem doing a nearly invisible repair.

One of my removable sections also cracked. The cause was heat from the oven, when we bought it didn't realize the covers must be removed. I'd guess yours cracked because of stove heat, I wide frying pan or lobster pot. The flame extends to the side and overheated the Corian. In my case its made by LG but similar material. It can't handle heat.
