Kwikee replacement

I swear my original steps would go up once my coach was in drive. However, once I got my steps swapped out to Kwikee, they can go down when in drive (ie if the magnetic connection is lost while driving). Were these installed incorrectly or does my memory serve me incorrectly?

Who installed the new steps you or the dealer?
Yes they go up if the engine is started and the screen door magnet is closed.
YOU must use the Kwikee magnetic contact as it is opposite from the original steps.
Read the install manual.

If they were Lippert steps just with the ignition switch on (doesn't have to be in DR) should have brought the steps in with the door closed. The kwikee should operate the same. The ignition interlock will override any configuration your steps happen to be in if the door is closed. If the door is opened with the ignition on the steps will deploy. They will again retract if the door is closed (ignition still on). Normal operation.

Thanks Iggy! A dealer put them in as a replacement. However, after looking at their "work" which they did last year, I think I'm worse off than I was prior. I'll have to look up the model number for the steps and look at the manual. I just wanted to validate that it should be going up when put into drive; which you've validated my thoughts. Thanks again!
