My previous motorhome had PowerGear jacks. And these were the same, I could not extend them with the engine running, but could retract them with the engine running. They work well with the following challenges. Often they would be slow to retract as compared to the LCI jacks and you needed to keep the reservoir topped up or the jacks down alarm would ring in. The PowerGear also seemed to be beefier in design as compared to LCI.

It a strange feeling to have the engine running when extending the jacks, after 10 years of doing it the other way around, hence my original question.

So far yes.
Do you have any pictures so we can see what you are talking about?

Here you go Iggy. These are photographs of my system. The purple hydraulic lines go to my rear slide and green lines go to the living room kitchen slide. Then yellow, orange, white, and brown lines are for my jacks. Also power comes from the two coach batteries not the engine battery. If the jacks are down and the ignition switch on they automatically come up.

Never seen that system before. Does Lippert still make that one?

Equalizer Systems is the manufacturer. They also go in some other rigs like Newmar.
