Led tail lights

First off I love all the new led lights that are on the market. I saw the oval tail lights that many of us have and thought it might be worth a try. Wow, what a difference. Big and bright and amazing when stepping on the brake. Easy install and hook up. I got all 4 on Ebay for $50. Seemed like a nice little up grade.

I was talking to a truck driver and he hate the LED lights ( brake/turn ) on the rear of his trailers. He said all the new trailer come with LED lights, he hoping they will do back to the old lights on the rear of the trailers. It seem that when it is snowing the LED do not get hot and the snow does not melt off them like the old lights did and it is a ticket when he pull into a weight station if they are cover with snow.

Living in snow country, and driving a Silverado and sometimes pulling a trailer, with LED light assemblies, there has never been any problem. And have never noticed a class 8 trailer with LEDs with snow buildup on them.

Maybe cause they are usually vertical the snow does not stick? Not sure.
I have seen some of the trailers and other vehicles have taillights completely covered with mud and/or slush but those were not only LED but also incandescent bulbs.

But I guess it might be a problem in some areas or with the position of some lights. But, he better get used to them.

I am on the LED side ! You can see LED's in the DAYTIME,the person BEHIND you can also see them! In regard to Snow,snowmobiles had issues with Old style S/T lights covered up with snow and there was a Company who sold "Heated Taillight's",now they Design the Taillight area so LED's can be used without Snow issues! Youroo!!

great thanks for the link...so there were no issues with turn signal speed or fuses??

No...not at all. They fit perfectly. Same screw holes. No fuss. I just had to figure out the wire colors with a common tester and wahlah.

And by the way... if anyone gives it a try, My 09 357qs tail light wires are BROWN...BLACK...and BLUE. The wires on the light are RED...WHITE...and BLACK. And so it's Coach BLACK to Light WHITE...Coach BROWN to Light BLACK...Coach BLUE to Light RED. I hope that will help. At least that is what they were on mine.

I have heard the stories about the "old style" lights not melting snow. I find it hard to believe that a 12 volt bulb or even two 12 volt bulbs in one assembly can generate enough heat to melt snow on the lens.

ASk someone who has ever tried to change a 1157 Bulb while it is lit! Burn Baby Burn! All of the Plastic overhead lights that have White housing that have Brown Burnt areas! Youroo!!

I have a 2005 Georgetown 325 SE and want to replace the existing rectangular tail lights with an LED assembly to provide more visibility both in the daytime and night.
Is there a unit that will easily replace my incandescent lights?

True - but if it's snowing outside,that means it's cold outside also. I'm guessing The overhead bulbs are inside - makes a difference.

Dmoore1776... if your tail lights are the single rectangle with the reverse white lens in the middle, then I'm not sure. On Ebay, there are many different led lights that you might want to browse threw. Maybe Amazon also. I hope you find what you want.
