LP extension hose

So I’m looking to get the extension hose for the LP so I don’t have to carry a bunch of 1lb bottles. I found one that is 12ft long. Can’t find anymore that are longer than that. Anyone know if there are any other options?

I have a low pressure outlet so the 12’ hose works for me. I gave not seen one longer, either. I believe you can make one to suit your needs. ?

I use a 12ft hose. After they start getting too long they really don't work as well but have not tested for distance just what I have heard.

They make longer ones. They are expensive. Do an online search. Don't forget, the longer the hose, the bigger the inside diameter must be. Just like long, thin wire runs will lose voltage, compressed gas will lose pressure. As such, I gave up on this effort, expense wasn't worth it. Going to keep it simple and just bring an extra 20# tank and use all my existing hoses and connections.

And I was reading that anything I hook to will need to have the regulator removed. Unless the quick connect was plumbed in before the regulator on the MH.

Correct. The quick connect fitting under the R/v is LOW pressure and already regulated. If the appliance (grill, fryer, etc.) has a regulator, it will need removed. There are MANY prior threads about this modification.

Do no confuse the LOW pressure quick connect under the R/V with a device called an Extend-A-Stay which mounts at the LP tank connection and allows extension hoses to be added that are HIGH pressure. Many hoses have the same end as a 1lb. bottle and will screw right onto the appliance's regulator.

BTW... 12' hoses are about the norm. I have connected two together successfully.

For RV'ing, I've decided it is easier to just carry the little green tanks.

I now use the 20-pound tank and the extend-a-hose for my house grill, which is one of the two RV grills that I own.

I also bought a setup from Flame King that comes with legally refillable one pound tanks and equipment to fill them from an 20# tank. Works great and will eventually pay for itself.

It is legal to refill disposable 1 Lb. tanks... it is illegal to TRANSPORT them after filling. This is on the back of every 1 Lb. bottle...

Ahhhh. Knew there was some kind of disclaimer. I still refill them, and have good results, but am very careful and take a LOT of precautions. I have another device I use to fill those, much simpler than the Flame King setup, but involves a bit more work, like chilling the tanks for the final fill to get more in, and using an insulated sleeve to keep them cold while they fill

Thanks. Again. I’m going to check into what type of quick connect fitting is under there. If it’s regulated I’m going to just get the hose for the 20lb tank. It’s easier to refill the 20lb tank than the RV tank anyway!

All the quick connects on rv's are the same. You won't find a regulator at the quick connect, it is fed with the low pressure gas from the regulator at your tank(s) on your RV.

What He said.

Personally I feel safer having ONE propane tank that can't roll around in my storage bays. Your mileage may vary.
Just remove the regulator from your grill and add the 12 ft. hose to it. Easy on my camp chef 2 burner. brass nut on one side; quick connect on the other.

Good luck either way.

we just used a 12 foot hose connected between the trailer quick disconnect and the grill. worked just great. i also have hoses with quick disconnect fittings on them and a regulator (the one that came with the grill) that allow me to run the grill directly from a 20 lb bar-be-que tank or the little green tanks.

A couple of thoughts about posts on this thread; it is very easy to over fill a one pound cylinder. The winter before last I refilled several and put them on a shelf in my shop. Come spring (and warmer temperatures) I started noticing slight whiffs of propane. I checked the cylinders that I had filled and found two that had swelled quit a bit and were leaking at the Schrader valves. I fill by weight now.

A couple of years ago I determined that 12 foot low pressure propane hoses make the most sense. I carry and have used three but the nice thing is that I only have to deploy as many as I need. Usually one or two.

I went to a commercial propane dealer to get a longer hose made. They have everything that you can think of and their prices are low. Just tell them what you want to do and they will make it on the spot. A 25' hose and all necessary connections was about $50.

Where do the you get the fittings to convert it to the quick connect hose setup? I have a Coleman camp stove/grill that uses the 1lb bottles and really want to use the line on the TT.
