LP refill

Always refilled at a place close to home and they always use the bleeder valve
to tell when full. So this time a new young guy decided to auto fill , I insisted
on useing the bleeder but he said they use auto now. So long story short he over filled my tank ,he didn't look at guage it fill out of sight , I didn't notice
till I was going to winterized . Now I have to go back and have them bleed it down. Auto fill doesn't always work. Operaterator should of noticed the guage.
Just venting ??

The only correct way to fill any propane is by the bleeder . The gauges are not always correct . I would be carefull on how anyone would bleed of the extra liquid . If it was mine I would start the furnace and burn it of . Depending on the BTU 's of the furnace . For example if it is a 50,000 BTU in will burn approx 1/2 gallon per hour .

Page 49 & 50 of this manual states the proper ways to fill FIXED (Not Portable) RV tanks:

http://www.propanecouncil.org/upload...g%20Manual.pdf

Note in step 6 that "Full" may be indicated by venting mist OR auto shut-off by the OPD. Either method is acceptable.

Following all listed precautions, you can check for excessively high level by opening the Fixed Maximum Liquid Level Gauge.

This is why I never allow my dealer to fill beyond 3/4 of a tank mark.
