Magic Chef Microwave

I have a 2013 Georgetown XL 378 and the microwave just quit. It is less then a year old and probably has only 20 hours max on it. The outlet has power. I remember a thread about this in the past but can't find it. Any ideas? I am a month from being able to take it to the dealer.

Do you get anything on the led screen?
If you do and it just won't run check the door switch.
If it is broken or not latching it will not let the microwave to run.
If you are really handy and the switch is good you may have to take it down and check the internal fuse. But remember it blew for a reason and the magnetron may be bad.
Be careful.

P.S.
If you have to take it down you must remove the piece of panel at the top to get to the 2 screws that will release it from the top cabinet and it should swing down from the wall bracket.

If it is still under the one year Forest River warranty I would take it to the dealer but notify Forest River via email ASAP to get it on your record.
This will make it easier for the dealer to replace.

Is Snoqualmie Falls still frozen?

Had the same thing happen. FR replaced under warranty.

Also you might want to check by opening un and make sure the main plug hasn't come unplugged from bouncing up and down the road. Happen to a microwave one time. Dh had it fixed in about 15 minutes.

We've had this happen several times but its totally random. All the power goes out on it (while cooking). No front LCD panel or the likes. Checked fuses and cords. Then it just magically turns on randomly later like 20 to 40 mins later. We couldn't reproduce nor could FR so they wouldn't swap mine out. :-(

It's a faulty internal electrical issues. When closing the cupboard door above, letting it slam etc breaks the internal electrical thingy. Ours was repaired under warranty and this year it happened again. Part is about $130 installed after you take it out of the RV.

If it is the Over The Range (OTR) model with light and fan, they have thermal protectors that shut them down when the temp gets too high. Supposedly to protect the unit when the cooktop is on full and overheats the area.

My '05 had a 22" Magic Chef OTR that failed due to low voltage and that size unit is no longer produced. I installed a GE under counter unit and now all is well.

I had something similar happen and the symptoms sound about the same. It was a magnetron failure, and they have a 10 year warranty. The microwave company covered all the expense.

Forget the Magic Chef and get a GE Convection Microwave fits right in. Take to old mounting bracket to mark the new bracket so you will use the same mounting holes on the wall. Use the template supplied with the new oven to make sure you mount the bolts that drop down through the shelf correctly. It will take two folks to lift the new oven into place.
We love ours, we never use the gas oven, it's our bread box now.

We r camping right now and had this happen. Waiting 20-40 minutes for it to come back on sounds a lot better than running out, buying a GE and installing it following the included template. 😊 Any other suggestions besides those two options would be greatly appreciated as I think we r passed 40 minutes and no GE dealers around.

Please take a look at this post about a recall on the microwave and read if it is one that you have.
