Notice the difference in the top of the filter it has a male section with an o ring. The canister is not just threads like a standard filter, but has notches and kind of clicks into place. I didn't like this set up and read on numerous failures people had with this system, that's why I changed mine out. Plus I can now get filters pretty much anywhere.

I guess FR decides to go with another system in 2015.
Is that the type they are still installing in the 2016 and 2017's?

Sorry Iggy, not sure when they started or if/when they stopped using this filter.

From an older thread, it was suggested that I swap out the housing for a much less costly setup. Here is what was suggested and I did on my 2014 378

Pentek P5 Water Filter* @* $3.65

Pentek 158622 1/2" 3G Slim Line 10" Clear Housing* @* $16.78

Pentek 3G SL Bracket Kit for Slim Line Housings* @* $6.74

From discountfilterstore.com

Bracket fit existing holes, filters less than $4.
