Mattress; changing for new but from where?

The previous owners have (4) foam toppers making the bed too high and the covers fall off (an we slide to the middle).
Measured and found a normal queen is longer.
Do we have to get a 'special' type for a motorhome?
Any ideas?

As you can tell, we are new to all this.

A short queen mattress is what you are looking for.
You can find them on the net or have a local furniture store order one if they do not stock them.

What you have is called a "camper queen", same width as a standard queen, but about 6" shorter. Available at Camping World and other places. Just Google it.

Look for a custom mattress manufacture near you, we found several in Ft. Worth Tx.
We got rid of the wall to wall King for a custom Queen, took our measurements picked the quality and firmness we wanted, it was ready in a few days.
We feel like it’s better and cheaper than the ones at Camping World, etc.

I put a double pillow top mattress we had hanging around the house that was not being used in the RV. we did not have to extend the platform. but, on the last TT we had i did put a longer piece on the base. I am 6`1 and the hard, small, factory mattress suck big time... best part, I never remove the plastic and when it came time to sell the other campers the new owners like the idea of no one ever sleeping on it

We purchased a sleep number bed from Camping World when they had them on sale over Christmas. We have one in the house and loved it so we added one to the TT. We love these mattresses and wouldn't own anything else anymore.

We purchased a Spa Sensations Gel Memory Foam from Walmart. They can be cut with an electric knife and the cover put back into place, if needed. $200 plus free shipping.

We have a residential QS in iur MH which was installed by the original owner. He just replaced the original support plywood with a piece that was big enough. Fortunately, when the slide is retracted, the mattress fits under the wardrobes' overhang. We use a Costco 1.5" memory foam topper on it, and that compresses as the slide comes in.

Bought a "memory foam" mattress at Sam's Club. put it on the garage floor, took the cover off, measured the length needed and cut the end off with a large bread knife. About 6 inches worth. We are sold on memory foam!

i have the expanded queen from sleep number, was in our stick and brick home. You don't have to purchase one made for RV's, just expand the base. Sleep number gets our vote on the best mattress...

I trimmed about ½ a foot off each side.
(if you do it wait till the mattress arrives to make your cuts)
I didn't cut the part inside the slide, we use them for night stands, which we REALLY missed from our SOB 5th wheel.

Now for some decent reading lights, that wont give us a sunburn.
