Smile MCD Electric Window Shades

There was a previous thread about this, which I was able to locate which saved my bacon, so I thought I would repost the problem.

While on a trip, when I was ready to leave one morning, the front electric shade would not retract but about six inches. It would go back down, then retract to about six inches again.

I looked in the manual binder, and guess what? No manual for the shade! Using my Samsung phone and the Forrest River Forums App I found the old thread, I got the name and googled it, and got the number for the factory. Thankfully it was a weekday! Anyway, a tech got on the phone and walked me through resetting it. He said the "brain" could lose it's senses at any time and have to be reprogrammed.

When I got home, I went on the website and printed a manual out and put it with my others.

The information is: MCD Innovations, 3303 McDonald St., McKinney TX 75071. (800) 804-1757, (972) 548-1850. www.mcdinnovations.com.

I didn't think it could happen to me! Don't leave home without it!

So what you are saying i sthat it lost its ememory for no particular reason?
Low battery could do cancel memory or did you disconnect battery in the engine for some reason?

I will be prepared now.

Yes...it will lose it's memory! All on it's own. Ours had a complete mind of its own and we finally had to buy a new motor/control assembly from MCD. That was maybe six months ago and we have had no problems with the shade since then. I can't address how to install the new motor because I had the MH in for another issue and had them install it. Seems to me the cost was around $80. Plus shipping from MCD.

MCD Shades

Yep, Lostdog is correct, just on its own. Plugged into shore power just getting ready to leave. Tech at MCD said it is not unusual for this to happen. I might add that in an emergency, you can remove the bottom of the shade from its channels and roll it up from the bottom and secure it to the top of the shade with zip ties or a bungy cord or whatever you have handy to tie with.
