Microwave Failure

I have a 2005 Georgetown XL 359ts with a 22" over the range Magic Chef Microwave/Hood/Fan combo. Well, it just failed. Totally dead. There is 120V to the outlet but no lights or response at all from the unit. Almost acts like an onboard fuse has failed.

The real question is "How do you get the rascal out?" Has anyone ever dealt with that problem. Not to mention that I can't seem to find a replacement unit on the internet.

Open to suggestions...

Bill

When we first bought our 350 ts I tried all the appliances and when I tried the microwave empty for 1 min it shut off. As if a fuse tripped. It did reset itself after 20 mins. Then I put a bag of popcorn in and the same result. Called FR and they told me to put in a thick microwaveable dish to prevent the overload from tripping. It has been fine ever since. Also, I no longer run it empty.

The microwave is a piece of junk and to get it out it is just mounted like any other microwave just loosen the screws above it on the cabinet and then yank it out the front after it is lifted off the back edge.

Then get another cheap microwave off Craigslist and put it in as the vibrations can kill almost any microwave and NEVER run a microwave empty can destroy them especially the cheap magic chef

If the microwave gets too hot, usually from using the stove/oven below, it will thermally protect itself and play dead. It does come back after it cools down.

Update

For those who may need to remove their 22" wide Over The Range Microwave, I found that there are two screws on top but they are underneath a thin panel stapled to the inside bottom of the upper cabinet and two screws at the wall mount.

Since the MCO2212AR cannot be replaced due to obsolescence, I will try to get an appliance repair company to fix it. I would love to replace it with another 22" wide unit but simply cannot find one.

If anyone knows of a source, please let me know.

Thanks

Bill

There is a place here in Fairmont, MN that has salvage parts from RV's. Here is the link to a microwave from there.
