Mods To Your 351DS

I'll start with a way to keep your remotes in place. Got these really cheap and painted them black. One in the living room, one each for the bunks, and one for the bedroom.

This is a must do. Relocate the trailer wiring tab from the bottom of the hitch to the top. If you don't it will eventually get knocked off.Click image for larger version

I installed an additional inverter to operate various plugs and entertainment components. This one from energizer actually fits with no drilling. It come with an on off switch, like the one for the fridge. Click image for larger version

Agree, tore it off on our first trip. Broke the metal bracket in half and destroyed the plastic housing.

Moving the tab is straight forward. It is ridiculous that it wasn't done at the factory. I took a picture of where the wires were once I took apart the plug so it could be reassembled properly. I cut it off the bottom with a recip -saw. If you know how to weld its a breeze. I can't imagine that anyone would charge more than a few bucks to weld it if you brought it to them.

The insulating padding on the door - do you notice a big difference in temperature?

I know it's not a up grade most men would appreciate, but I had our shams and all the towels monogrammed. The pillowcases in the bunks have the kids names on them.

We did something similar to ours. Any time you can limit the amount of unlight entering the coach, you'll help with heat control. Also, the window in the door should have been frosted or otherwise provide some level and privacy, and since it's not we keep it covered.

I'm guessing you put the TV on some kind of mount that allows it to open easily for access to the cabinet? Would be great to see pics.

Thanks,

Mike

I have a more detailed description on a different topic called creative cabinet space. Check it out. I'd be happy to answer any questions.

I really like the key hooks in the cabinet above the door. I throw my keys in that cabinet also but never thought of putting hooks in there.
Haven't done any mods quite as creative as most of these. Did put some led puck lights in the cabinets above the dinette and the one in the cabinet to the left of the entrance door. Seems like I'm was always carrying a small flashlight to look in cabinets for things. Also put a wall mounted hair dryer in the bathroom to keep from cluttering up the counter. It has a night light built into it that works pretty good to keep some light in the bathroom at night.
Haven't knocked off the trailer hitch yet but looks like I need to do that mod also.

Agree, they should relocated them at the factory. That's the stock location from the hitch manufacturer and I guess they didn't want to take the time to relocate it.

We did it for privacy, but yes it will also help insulate. I was going to spray paint it black, but then found that cover which is a perfect fit for that window.

Another mod that the family likes is to be able to watch movies on the front camera LCD screen. It's a bit small, but better than nothing.

For those of you that do not know, while watching cable or antenna TV on the main screen, turn on the dash radio and it will sound much better. IIRC, you have to se the radio to Aux 1.

Something else that is a must have is the fan-tastic vent cover. That way you can set the temperature you want and let it run automatically without having to worry about rain.

Oh, and don't forget to wax your toilet bowl and sink.

I just added wheels on the bottom of the hitch. Just incase. They are only rated for 1000lbs and they should have a 4-1 safety factor so they should take an 8000 lb hit. I don't know if they will actually hold up, but they weren't expensive and they might prevent damage.
