Need new tires - what's your experience

Well its time to replace the tires on the coach. We are starting to see splits along the sides and realize we need to do something before one blows out. I'm trying to see if most of you have stuck with the Michelins or gone over to another brand. I've loved the Michelins, great wear and this November makes 8 years we've owned the Georgetown. If you wouldn't mind sharing what the cost was. My Michelins are size 235/80R22.5 the XRV type. Thanks for help, Charlie

How many miles did you put on the Michelins?

Six tires, mounting, balancing and sales tax cost $2900 is a fairly reasonable

But I would also like to know how many miles you have on your present XRV tires.

Family Motor Coach has a discount program with Michelin.
I know that some members claim that they have saved a significant amount of money with there plan. I don't have any personal experience but when I need tires I will check it out.

We only have 18,000 miles on the tires. The tread is still great, very little wear,but the sides are cracking near the bead and the writing on the tires. The RV hasn't been moved this year due to recovery from neck surgery that left me as an incomplete quadriplegic. I'm still in physical & occupational therapy. Two years ago I had a knee replacement so we weren't able to travel much until the fall. The past few years have been one thing after another. Yesterday I was diagnosed with bladder cancer after a follow-up test with the urologist.

Our Georgetown is a 2008 too. It's not always a function of miles in replacing the tires. Ours had plenty of tread, but the Florida sun took its toll on the sidewalls and we had to replace all 6 this spring. I went with the Michelin XRV's again, and the bill for tires was about $2800. I went ahead and had her aligned and the sway bar change done at the same time. (BTW, that sway bar change made a HUGE difference in our coach's ride.)

Michelin also had an rebate on the tires.

Did you add a sway bar or are you talking about repositioning the bolts to the other holes?

Oh, man... I wish I would have known about the FMCA discount!

On the sway bar issue, it was just the change of the bolt holes. Maybe I was using the wrong terminology.

Still, it made a big difference!

But that was for 4 tires I have 6.
So using your cost it still will be around
Still comes out about $2,800
