New 2014 335 DS on the road

We took delivery yesterday of our new 2014 Georgetown 335 ds from RV Direct. Today we are enjoying a campsite on Lake Ontario shore. Tomorrow we head for Mass and then Maine.
We have run into two minor troubling issues.
Check engine light is on (wasn't on when we first drove the unit). The error code says oxygen sensor. The RV dealer made an immediate appointment at a local Ford dealer who replaced the sensor. Within the hour the light was back on. The replacing dealer said it was OK to drive home where we can pursue the issue with our local dealer.

The other issue is the smoke detector. When we tested the furnace, the smoke alarm goes off. We removed the alarm to the exterior of the coach and that silenced the alarm, so there is something setting it off. Could it be something in the "newness" of the unit?

All in all we are very pleased with the unit and the dealer. Time will tell, more later!

Jim, Congratulations on the new rig! Since you are on the shores of Lake Ontario I am gonna guess you picked your rig up at Buffalo RV? Campground, perhaps Four Mile Creek, Golden Hill or Lakeside?

Buffalo RV & Four Mile Creek

Yes, we took delivery at the Buffalo RV store. We were than at Four Mile Creek State park on a site overlooking the lake. We have since moved to October Mountain State Forest in Mass (much more rustic). Tomorrow we head for Falmouth Mass( Cape Cod).

Talking Other things we learned along the way....

Our new 335 DS is our first motorhome, so our learning curve may be steeper than other. Some of the things we have learned thus far...

1. If you don't close the door tightly, it will try to come open as you drive down the road... And the corallary to that is if you slam it too hard upon leaving, it may lock on you. (Picnic tables are the right height to crawl through the drivers window to retrieve the keys.)

2. If you flip the switch that says "Battery Storage Control" and then use shore power, everything will work fine. Just don't expect the slide outs to work once you've pulled the plug. Took 3 or 4 minutes of "trouble shooting" to realize all we had to do was flip the switch. (The wife thought for a moment that we had somehow killed the batteries and were unable to start the generator as well....)

3. Running into rainy days is a motorhome is much better than while sailing between ports. I could get used to this safe, dry and comfortable stuff!

More to come. I'll save the really embarrassing stuff for fire side tales!

Jim, were you guys satisfied with Buffalo RV? Who was your salesman? Bill P. parts and service manager is an absolute great guy! FYI what DW and I do for keys is she always cares the extra set in her purse. Also, we always by routine lock the door when we get in the rig to head out. We found routines help eliminate errors or forgetfulness.

update again

Our sales person was Jeff Blair from their RV Direct branch in Albany. All communications were phone or e-mail. (I preferred the e-mail for a written trail of promises, statements. Never had to use them for backup, all promises were honored and more).

We are developing helpful habits as we go. Thanks for the suggestion.
