New Georgetown Inspection List Part 1

Sooooo, forums say the inspection is all important so I've put together a list of things to inspect/test/understand based on the reading I've done in the forums.

Anyone have any addition suggestions?



APPLIANCE INSPECTION

Generator Operation/Maintenance
- How to start normally
- How to start if coach batteries too low
- How to check oil level
- How to change oil, oil filter, air filter
- Any other operations/maintenance tips
- Generator fuel consumption per hour, cut off to avoid draining tank?

AirCon Operations/Maintenance
- Check 4 mounting screws on each unit, know to be loose and allow water penetration
- How to operate from generator and from shore power
- Check all thermostats working
- Any other operations/maintenance tips


Furnace Operations/Maintenance
- Propane only?
- Average LP consumption volume per hour
- How to turn on
- Check all thermostats working
- Any other operations/maintenance tips

Fridge Operation/Maintenance
- Propane or 120 only?
- Operations/how to switch between supplies
- Check water/ice dispenser working

Stove/Oven
- Gas only?
- Operations
- Maintenance

Microwave Operation/Maintenance
- 120 only?

Hot Water Heater
- Propane or 120 only?
- Operation/how to switch between supplies
- How to drain tank (drain and pressure relief valve)
- How to isolate/bypass tank

Fireplace
- 120 only?
- Operations
- Check to see if noisy when driving others have had dealer place gasket on glass seal to quiet

Air Mattress
- Blow up air mattress and leave to check for leaks

For all Propane appliances
- Understand how to light pilot, where to be able to see burner to check for operation and where vents are for each appliance to be able to maintain

Manuals
- Make sure manuals present for every appliance

WATER / SEWER INSPECTION
Drains
- Where is cold water supply low point drain valve
- Where is hot water supply low point drain valve
- Where is hot water heater drain valve and pressure relief valve
- Where is the fresh water tank drain valve
- Where is grey water tank drain valve
- Where is black water tank drain valve
- Where is water pump drain valve

Tanks
- FILL fresh/grey/black tanks and leave full to check for leaks
- Drain all tanks to understand process and check valves for leaks
- Understand where vents are for each tank

Water Pump
- How to drain / prime

Pressure Regulation
- Is there a stock supply pressure regulator

Water Filter
- Is there a filter,
- operations/maintenance

Chemicals
- Understand chemicals for black tank

Winterize/Storage
- Understand process

Run all taps, shower, toilet and look for leaks
Inspect all undercounter plumbing supply/drain fittings
Fill/drain sinks to check venting
Check shower water pressure


ELECTRICAL

Electrical
- Understand where all fuses/breakers are
- Understand which breakers in panel supplied by which of the L1 L2 lines in the 50amp service
- Understand if the 20/30 to 50 amp plug adapters energize both lines in panel
- Where are any fuses that are not in panel, understand fridge and others may have in-line fuses close to appliances
- Make sure have spare fuses for everything
- Make sure have spare bulbs for everything
- Understand there was an issue with levels and heated mirrors sharing a diode where if mirrors used when levelling could blow diode, fix is available, has it been done
- Understand what uses AC, what uses DC, what uses gas and what can only be used when generator/shore power on
- Understand type of converter, is it 3 stage charger or fixed trickle charge
- Is there a surge protector for over/under voltage, reverse polarity, open ground, single neutral

Batteries
- Understand battery monitoring equipment
- Isolation switch location
- Maintenance

Artic Pack
- Understand location of all arctic pack pads
- Understand fusing of all pads and any monitoring capability
- Understand if anything required other than pads for low temp operations
- Any times to use/not use pads (ie empty tank implications)
Use every light, switch and check each outlet for power
Run generator and check voltage on interior AC outlet

My recommendations: Take your time -don't let them try to rush you, take your list with you-there's tons of stuff to look at, ask questions about anything you don't understand. Your list is excellent but the excitement of getting a new coach can make you want to get on the road as fast as possible. Best wishes with your walk through.
