New GT owner

We are heading to Texas in the morning to pickup our new 2016 364TSF and are wondering what questions we should ask and what we should look for before heading back to Florida Saturday. Any and all feedback will be appreciated. So far I have a long list from the forums already but want some additional input. Thanks in advance.

Make sure they show you how to reset the leveling system and where the breakers for it are. Have them throw in a couple of the roller shade hangers, you're gonna need them. Make sure the E-tracks on the slides go out smoothly. It's the black plastic track that carries the wiring for the slide. If they bind a little now, it will only get worse until they snap. The tires are most likely over inflated for the weight you will be carrying, but until you load up and get it weighed, not much you can do. Other than those things, the rest is pretty standard. Not sure if there are any of the 2016's w/ the 2015 chassis still out there, but you can tell by looking at the gear selector. PRND421 is 2016. PRND321 is 2015. 2016 have 6spd trans, 2015 have 5spd trans.

Thanks for the input. Any idea where I can find the cheap handling fix thread? I think I may want to just get it done.

Congrats on your new camper. Go under the Library tab above and print out a PDI checklist.

I would drive it first, just so you have a comparison if nothing else.

I must agree with Aqua Man. I have not had any problems with the handling on my 364TS and have not had the need to perform any fix for it.

Good timing...my first roller shade hangar just broke after 3,500 miles.

Check FG roof above driver and passenger make sure not warped where it meets the front....common problem. Run out king bed slide and see how bad it bumps up and bogs down motor....some say it's normal but others not so much.

I would not do any handling fixes until you drive it a while. Expert more input on windy days...but after just 3,500 miles I find myself one handing it a lot....it amazes me how easy it is to drive already and how accustomed I have become to it.

Congrats on the new purchase! Did you get it from Motor Home Specialists in Alvarado, TX, by any chance? They seem to always have a great selection of GT's.

A couple questions I wanted answered based on past experiences with other RV's - these may or may not concern you, but I thought I'd throw them out there:

- Ask to see/understand manual override for slide outs. If they get stuck out, you're stuck where you are until help arrives.

- Ask about the manual override of the electric awning. Ours got stuck out on our trailer once and it was a real pain to get it in (cost of convenience with all these electric gizmo's)

- Make sure you see where the main coach power breaker is. I hear it gets tripped occasionally, I wanted to know where it is. Same with the generator breakers.

- Check each and every light - a few of ours did not work and it turned out to be loose connections and not just bulbs.

- Do a THOROUGH PDI - you'll find cabinets not quite lined up, some finish items not quite "right". Since you're dealer is hundreds of miles away, make sure you get them to take care of as much as you can before you leave TX.

I agree with the sentiment people here have mentioned in reference to the handling fix. Ours is a bear to handle, but after a while you get used to it. I would have told you it was my #1 priority the first 700 miles, but with another 800 or so on the odometer, I don't think I'll bother with it unless I'm driving it a lot more (like 10K miles/year or more).

Again, congrats. And enjoy!

Be sure to get the front end aligned - our '14 GT 360 XL was way off, as we many others on this forum. We got pre-approval from Forest River, and they reimbursed us the cost.

Check out irv2 it can be found there. It is Huge post with 1000+ posts.

The only thing we have had to fix on ours is the cylinder on the door stripped out. Search this forum and you will find a post that talks about it. There is a link to Amazon that you can purchase 12 replacement end for the cylinder. They are brass so should last longer. We broke ours at OBX in June. Always get high wind in OBX. Other than that we love ours and the new 6 speed transmission is great. Heading out in a couple weeks for third major trip with it. Enjoy
