New to Me 2002

I am hoping someone here can help me.

I have just taken ownership of a 2002 Georgetown

I have some questions if any one can help that would be great.

I have a button on my dash on the left of the main display.
It is a button with a image of a battery on it.
What is that for?

Also if you run the engine it should charge the RV battery's right?
The RV battery's were dead when we went to pick it up today and had to jump it to get leveling jacks to retract and to charge the batter's so the stairs would come up so we could drive it.
moving it from my motherinlaws lot to our storage lot we drove it for about an hour and the battery's were still not charged.

Battey disconnect. I have a panel on the down by the floor but the light just stays red. I am not sure if that is due to the dead battery's or what.

you can not see the image on the button but it is a battery.

The switch with the battery image is your "Auxiliary Start" function. It basically provides a jump start using your house (auxiliary) batteries in the event the main battery doesn't have a sufficient charge to start the engine.

Yes I believe the battery disconnect needs to be on / in the use mode (red led on) in order for your house batteries to charge.

There may be a few reasons why your batteries are not charging.

Below is a link to the service manual for your system. It contains a fairly easy to follow step by step troubleshooting guide that will hopefully help you find your problem.

Sorry if this doesn't come across as s hyperlink I couldn't figure out how to properly create it or attach the actual doc using the mobile app.

Congrats on your Georgetown. Looks like your questions were answered above.

If you have a Ford F53 chassis, you may want to look into two important items.

1) Take your VIN number to any ford dealer and have then check to see if the Cruise Control / brake switch recall has been complied with. The recall adds a short wire harness in the brake switch that prevents it from catching fire. and destroying your vehicle.

I put a short article on my blog that shows how to see if the recall has been complied with.

2) Cheap Handling Fix - This change to the suspension vastly improves handling of the F53 from its stock condition, AND, it doesn't cost anything. Simply relocate the adjustment of the torsion bar links on the front and rear axles.

It won't do MACH 2, but I can get a sandwich and take a pee.
