Newbie questions???

Hi all, My wife and I recently bought a Georgetown 337. We have made a couple of short trips trying it out and getting used to it. So far so good! Now we are getting ready to go from Mississippi to the Grand Canyon In June. May be a little ambitious but we are going for it! The problem we have been having is getting a towed vehicle. Definately over looked all the complicatations with this. I just "assumed" (yeah I know) we could tow her honda four down, and it can be with a lot of work. We scratched that pretty quick. we have found a 2007 saturn vue already rigged up and the guy will let us have the tow bar also. Two questions: What is a fair price for a vue already rigged up with 89,000 miles, great condition. And, what will I have to do to my Motorhome to make it ready to hook up? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

OH! and advice on the grand canyon is welcome also, we have never been!

thanks in advance!

Most states require that the towed vehicle has braking. If the Vue is not so equiped you'll need to add that. There are numerous systems out there from Roadmaster, Blue Ox etc. We needed a drop down for the hitch to reduce the angle while towing our Grand AM. We use the Roadmaster Brakemaster System. It's very easy to hook up when we travel. Bought ours and had it installed at CW years ago.

No more than the loan value. You can get this info at your bank or credit union.
Sorry for the seller but the base plate adds no value, might take a little off if he was trading it in.

Look on craigs list for the tow bar value, I just gave $270 for a Roadmaster Falcon, in good condition.
Here are some examples.
I wouldn't buy this one.

This one looks good

Offer 2 to 3 hundred for the tow bar.

Enjoy the canyon, you might want to check on reservations.
Besure to stop at the Petrifird.

Why don't you want to tow the honda?

thanks for the replies ya'll! bend302, we were told it would take around $5,000 to get the Honda Crosstour completely rigged up. The guy we talked to said it would have to have a pump installed as well as the tow bar. Our 16 y/o daughter needs a car also. We were trying to save a little money and knock out two issues at once.

We use a tow dolly with our RV. We tow a Toyota minivan, but you can tow virtually any front wheel car weighing less than 4,500 lbs. You can get a two dolly for $1000-$1500 new and a used one for $500-$1000. Tow dolly's are not much work (I can put the car on in about 5 minutes) and they are versatile because you can tow multiple vehicles without any modifications to the vehicle.
