I am sure some one in the neighborhood complained about some poor truck driver taking his truck home and talked to the Mayor and they put up the sign. You can always move out of town.

The access to our house is controlled by"max 10,000lb" signs on all available streets. My Georgetown is parked at the house as are a few others in the adjacent neighborhoods.. We are serviced weekly by garbage trucks, and there's a 65000Lb fire truck one block away. Also a school with 15 or so 25000lb school buses, pulling from numerous neighborhoods within the 10,000lb boundary.
My take on the restrictive signs is "no thru traffic--access only". I've never seen anyone pulled by the local police.

According to the New Jersey Motor Vehicles and Traffic Regulations section 39:1-1 a "truck" is defined as.

Quote:
"Truck" means every motor vehicle designed, used, or maintained primarily for the transportation of property.
A Recreational Vehicle is defined as
Quote:
"Recreation vehicle" means a self-propelled or towed vehicle equipped to serve as temporary living quarters for recreational, camping or travel purposes and used solely as a family or personal conveyance.
State vehicle codes are very precise in their wording. The sign in question restricts "Trucks". The OP drives a Recreational Vehicle. They are defined as two totally different entities. According to this sign, anything over 4 tons that IS NOT a truck is good to drive down this road.

FYI guys, Black and White street signs are regulatory and you can be cited for violating the sign.

My 2012 Ram Dually is over 4 tons as it sits. I took it to the scales and it is 8800 pounds.
