KN Intake & Banks Exhaust + Programmer
Hello. We bought a 28 foot Lexington last year with the V10. We could tell the first time we used the motorhome, that the engine had a breathing problem (2,000 miles trip. Utah to California). I have had both Intake and Exhaust systems on most of my vehicles (Ford diesels, Chevy diesels, Dodge V10, Porsche, snowmobiles, 4 wheelers, etc.). When I decided to do something about the lack of power with the E450 V10, I used the Bank's Powerpak System with the Autominder. The headers are true equal length and the exhaust went in without much work. I used the K&N intake (instead of the Bank's. The K&N seemed to have a better design). Now when I pull uphill, the rpms are 2,000 to 2,500 lower. The E450 doesn't need to downshift nearly as often. Before it would rev to over 5,000 rpms. It never does that now. My gas mileage has gone up as well. On our trip to California (without a trailer) we averaged about 9 mpg. Recently I pulled a trailer (total combined weight of 5,500 lbs) and we averaged 12 mpg. During this trip (SLC to Moab) I was passing other similar motorhomes and vehicles. I could drive at almost any speed. On the really steep hills I was still going 60-65 mph. I know that I will never probably recoup my money but the saved time is definitely worth the cost (I am also slightly vain). We can also go further on a tank of gas. Good Luck. Kim.
