Opinions wanted on the 2016 Georgetown XL 378

We have had several problems w our 2014 FR3 and are considering upgrading to the Georgetown XL 378. We like the looks, the ride and the quality but would like to hear from any owners out there what issues they have run into and if they would recommend the XL. Thanks.

As much as I like the FR3 it is limited in space.

The Georgetown XL 378TS is great for a larger living space and less in the bedroom and bathroom area.
That is what I noticed up front and we felt the living area was much more important.

So I can tell you about all the great things but I think you know already selecting the XL.

Will you have issues in the first year also. You bet you will. Just like every trailer, 5th wheel and motorhome on the market.

So why don't you tell us why you want to move on up to a Georgetown?

378xl is the best layout bar none. I have a 2012 and cannot find a better layout unless I spend an additional 150,000. I can put another 25,000 into my 378 and have all the quality upgraded. Problems you will have, you just have take good care of it. This forum is very helpful for that. Iggy is great for help. Good luck, by the way the paint on rig holds up well. Mine is always outside and paint is still new! Get one you'll love it!!

2x on the floorplan. We have a 2014 with 14000 miles. The only thing that I would like would be the over cab bunk for the grandkids, but it wasn't available in late 2013....

We love the open space when the slides are out. We added a 2nd ice maker to the freezer, it has come in handy. the only problems that we have had are
1, front end alignment needed.
2, clips broke on pull down shades, manufacture replaced them.
3, drivers side window doesn't fit right.

It has been fairly trouble free, we have over 10K miles, and once over the Alcan Hwy.

Darrens02 good to here we pick our Georgetown up next week. Ours is the XL 369. Wife like the two bath arrangement.

We have a 2016 XL378TS and love it. Only have about 5000 miles thus far but will be traveling to Arizona from SC on Oct 24.
Looked at both the 369 and 378 and the decision came down to, extra living space in the 378 or the bath and a half in the 369. Other then that, not much difference in the coaches. I will say this, for a mid-range priced coach, the GT XL is best in class for a gas powered coach. Love ours and good luck in your venture.

JBP. 6 speed is great. Of course as expected a little tight while breaking in the first 2500 miles. It is different for sure. But in this case, different is awesome.

You'll love the floor plan. Lotsofroom. We rarely need a half bath and since the bath in the 378 is midcoach it works fine. It's just the two of us and 3 small dogs, unless we bring one or two of the grandkids.
We have a 2013 model and no issue pulling our CR-V.

wrapperman we are in the same boat. Me my better half and three small dogs. They travel great and remind us when we need to stop and stretch our legs. Wife does not drive so I try to stop every 2 to 21/2 hours. We covered 14,000 last year. Will be closer to 8,000 this coming year.

Bobbyba how was the gas mileage? Am hopping that the 6 speed helps some.

WOW! You are definitely using your Georgetown.
I'm close to 50,000 miles and thought no one would be catching me soon.
But you may.

I also have a Lincoln MKX but will never tow it because of possible rock damage. I will keep my Fiat Pop and keep rolling.
You going to the Kerrville TX FROG rally next year?

Mileage is between 8 and 9 with 4800# Enclave in tow. Seems to get better with every trip. Will report after 24th through 29th on trip from SC to AZ.

If your coming thru I20 there is a great rv park just west of Ft. worth believe exit 370 Believe Oak Creek RV Park, we have stayed there and would go back.. Don't know how your travel will take you.

Iggy have not picked up the Georgetown yet. The distance is why we trade for the new coach. Wife wanted something bigger. We plan on 6500 to 8000 this year. The MKX tows well. I have not had any problems with damage. The wife wants her lincoln when we get to destination. Originally pulled a jeep wrangler two door. I think it is one of the best to tow.

Bobbyba that mileage is good. I hope to get as good. What speed to you usually cruise at? We are pulling an Lincoln MKX.

I wish that Ford would put the mileage computer chip in. It tells distance to empty now so it has and the information. It could also give you instant mileage so it would help select the best cruise speed. The MKX limits me to 65mph. so I usually run at 60MPH. Mileage in the last RV pulling was 7.5. Not pulling the MKX was 8.1. Put there was some mountain driving in that. That was also with the Ford 5 speed.

I would confirm the ccc of the vehicle, both by its door tag and on the scales. I would do that for whatever RV I buy.

Recently I was a bit irritated to discover that the Dynamax Isata 5 had what I consider a very low ccc. I suppose it is ok if one is towing a boat for a weekend trip to the lake, but otherwise I would have to either tow a cargo trailer or a truck with sufficient payload capacity. - either would be a hassle.

So, for me, fitness for purpose needs to include sufficient ccc. For a 3 month trip I want to have upwards of 3,500 ccc available. The weight adds up faster than most people believe it does. The cost to buy a Dynamax Force that will give me the capacity I need is significantly more and I will still need to buy a vehicle to tow. So, now I'm reconsidering my class options within that higher price range.

I expect 7mpg.
All V10 all get the same towing unless you drive 50-55 mph all the way to AZ which you may hit 8mpg.

On good highway the engines sweet spot is about 63-64 mph and 2,200 rpm's.

But I usually do 65mph and in some cases 70mph. That is why I get such great gas mileage.

Now in California where the max speed for rigs towing it's 55mph and I get better mileage.
