Oversized tires for Georgetown?
A friend of mine recently purchased a diesel
Class A, (another brand). I noticed his tires looked much larger!
They are mounted on 22.5” wheels , but the
(Wheel itself might be wider).
I was wondering if anyone has ever replaced / upgraded either the front or the rear duals on their Georgetown with wider tires?
If so were you pleased with the result?
Better handling, stability, weight distribution...
Or, had issues with tire or body, suspension rub.....
Thanks!!

Seriously?
You’re comparing the wheels and tires of a diesel with your Georgetown?
Not comparing apples to apples are you?
Doubt you’ll see any answers to your questions.

Actually, no.... I’m not comparing Georgetown to diesel tire and wheels..What I was saying is it piqued my interest. Over the years I’ve placed larger tires on almost every vehicle I’ve owned.
Except for the RV.
I understand I probably can’t put a 350 Wide tire on a 7” rim, but I was wondering if anyone had purchased wider tires. And if they noticed any improvement in handling.
Or experienced any negative issues while driving.
If there is no feedback, left then I guess I’ll be the one to share, once I have a conversation with my tire distributor. Thanks!!

You really don’t want to try that. Major chassis changes. The XL model has the 22.5 tires and rims.

I mentioned it in passing but I figured I’d better be clearer.
I have a Georgetown 360 XL. I already have 22.5 inch wheels.
By “upgrading”, I was really referring to WIDER tires... (i.e. 305 vs. 275). < just an example. I don’t yet know if 305s would fit on a 7” wide wheel.
Thanks!

The problem with wider tires is the spacing on the rear duals, the rims can handle a slightly wider tire but the dual spacing won’t support it unless you install some fabricated spacer but then you wind up with the tires rubbing the frame on inner wheel well. Not a good or advisable option. When we replaced our tires I went to Bridgestone and got a 1/4 inch wider tire and it has a bit more tire on the ground. With the different profile we also have about 1/2 inch more tire on the ground in the circumference. I have noticed a smother ride and the handling, to me, has been improved. The rig also seems to track better. All that is my opinion but I like it. No rim change required or recommended.

Replaced all the tires, happy to be rid of the Michelin’s. Unfortunately the MH is in short term storage and I don’t have the size and model number available. If it warms up above freezing and I can get to it I’d let know. I did do a previous post on them let me check that, maybe I put the size on that.

Found it, the Michelin is 235/80R22.5 replaced with Bridgestone R268, 245/75R22.5, a low rolling resistance tire. Also save about $1,000 over Michelin for all 6 tires.

I replaced my Michelin's with the same size, 245/75 22.5 Sumitomo's and its funny but they look narrower to me. Happy with the tires and performance.
