PA or WV

Hello! We are headed back east from Ohio, and trying to figure out do we go through PA or WV? We have about 4 days to play with, any suggestions? Thanks!

Depends on where in Ohio and how far east. In Pa you can take I80 (northern), I70 (southern) to turnpike (expensive) or go 79 south to Morgantown WV and then take I68 (good road and free).

And pretty countryside. WV would be my choice.

You could also try to stop in Bedford Pa. and visit the Flight 93 Memorial, stay at Friendship Village and it is a short drive from there.

Summerville Lake Retreat outside of Summerville, WV. Beautiful park with a real lighthouse on the grounds. Close to Summerville, WV, which has many shops, resteraunts, touristy places.
But, depending on your route, try to stay on main roadways. Many backroads are very senic, but the roads themselves belong in a 3rd world country. Been on dirt logging trails that were in better condition.
Campground itself, and Summerville are worth visiting, though.

Nothing against Pennsylvania, but the tolls are very high and the fuel is even higher. I try to hit the state line with a full tank of diesel and stay off the turnpike.

However, on September 7,8 and 9th there is a hot air balloon festival at Bird In Hand, PA
The Old Mill Stream Campground is only nine miles away from the event and FHU sites are $62.00 per night.
Address is:
2249 Lincoln Highway East
Lancaster, PA 17602

Deep Creek Lake area I suggested would be the most convenient place to stop along the route to where you are headed. That is if you end up taking I-68

There's also Rocky Gap State Park just outside Cumberland, MD on I-68. It's about a 45 minute drive up to the Flight 93 Memorial, Rocky Gap Resort/Casino is across the lake from the campground and there's lots of history to be explored in the Cumberland area. Biking on the C&O Canal or even the Great Allegheny Passage (which actually goes to Pittsburgh from Cumberland) are great places to see nature and get some exercise at the same time.
Can't tell I live in the area, can you?
