Problems with driver's Captain Chair (Class A) -- Little or no back/lumbar support

We have a 2011 Forest River, Georgetown XL, 34' Class A, Gas motor home. We having a problem with the driver's Captains Chair. The lumbar/back support is killing my back after driving for a while.

Click here to view the driver/passenger captain chairs for our RV. I found the pictures on the Williamsburg Furniture Inc. (Nappanee, IN.) web page.

I have tried several lumbar/back support products that attach to the driver's chair. Some work for a short time but do not provide enough support to assure good back support while driving.

If you know of a good product that will resolve my back support problem, I would really appreciate your sharing information with me.

I hope to hear from you soon. My back will certainly thank you.

Hi Rick,

We have a 2017 24W3 and just got back from an approximately 4,500 mile drive (IL to OR to IL, with some stops along both ways) in 12 days. We drove 8 of the 12 days, so I was in the pilot's seat for 8 - 10 hours each of those 8 days. I was very worried about sitting that long before we left.

In preparation, I bought one of these lumbar support pillows: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1. Even with it, I had some issues on the first day. Then I remembered some tricks about seating position that I've been taught in physical therapy and I changed my seat from slightly leaned back (the way I like it in a car) to straight up. After that, I was much better. As long as I stopped about every 4 hours and moved around, the rest of the trip was good.

HTH,
Doug

If your back hurts after 8 hours in the seat, drive fewer hours..... Sorry, I feel your pain, but I only go 200-250 per day and arrive happy.

Have a 2011 378 and have drove it all over the US, many days with over 8 to 10 hours driving and have never had an issue with the captains seat. No lumbar problems at all, in fact the seats are very comfortable. Guess I can't identify with your problem. Maybe the seat design has changed over the years.
