procedure for extending slide out

Hi everybody. I just bought a 2000 Georgetown M-346s and I'm having problems getting the slide out room to extend. I know it works because the guy that I bought it from extended it with my wife inside the coach while I was looking at the tires. The problem is I cannot figure out what combination of things need to happen in order for the room to be extended. So far I have tried it with the engine running, engine off but on acc, jacks up, jacks down, on generator with batterys on, on generator with batteries off. The parking brake was applied in all scenarios. Is there a main power override for the room that would keep the switch from getting power? There is no movement at all when I push the switch to out or in. Also, where is the manual override in case I need it?

I have pretty much everything else figured out, but this is really frustrating me. Any help would be really appreciated!

1st...The engine has to be off (key in position 0)
You may want to run the GenSet if you are not on shore power just to have that extra boost of power available, but my slides will extend simply on the batteries.


Jacks up or down really depends on how level the coach is, but neither position should prevent the slides from extending. but just as an FYI, the slides work best when the coach is level.


You might want to check the breakers to see if one has tripped that controls the slide motor.

This didn't get submitted the first time. The ignition needs to be OFF for the slides to open. There is a safety interlock. The levelers should be extended with the engine running and the parking brake set (not required for the slides). The slides and levelers are 12 volt powered.

You should always want to use they hydraulic system while on shore power, generator power or you are 100% sure your house batteries are fully charged and in good shape.

If your hydraulic pump get less than 12 volts DC you may trip the 100 amp resettable breaker. Also if you use the pump at low voltage will cause it to prematurely fail over time and this is costly.

This is my preventive measures I use and you may use other methods but I try to prevent any premature failures or issues doing this way.

The previous owner of my Rockwood fifth wheel had purchased extending locking bars that he installed on the top of the slideout when closed, to keep it closed when travelling. If you have these and they are not removed, the slide will attempt to slide out but will not move.

on my Georgetown, the best way to set the jacks is to do it with the engine running. Not sure why you say you should NOT run the engine.

The slides voltage comes from your batteries......anytime your plugged in or the generator is running....the battery switch on of course....the batteries are getting a charge...ie more power to help with the slide operation as would be the same with the engine running, however the interlock prevents the slides from operating with the key engaged.
