Propane won't work on the stove

Suddenly, yesterday the stove decided not to work. When I turn the knob for propane to get to the stove, I do not even hear the usually propane noise you might here when turning the knob. Trying to light obviously doesn't work. I'm not out of propane. I checked the inside indicator and it reads 2/3. The outside indicator on the propane tank reads 1/2. Not really sure what else to do at this point. Any suggestions?

Will any of the top burners or the oven light?
Have you used it this year?
Check for spider webs at the air mix points they might be clogged.

Another thought did you try a match to light the burner in case the sticker is bad.

Since you don't hear any gas coming out of the stove, you are probably not getting any. You can try turning the gas off at the tank, then turn it back on very slowly. The propane tanks have surge valves that will shut off the flow of gas if it starts to flow too quickly. If that doesn't work, run another appliance that runs off of gas. If other appliances work, you probably have a bad regulator on the stove. If no appliances work, you have a bad regulator on the tank or no gas in the tank. How reliable are your level indicators. Since you are getting two reading between inside and outside, I think they are not too reliable!
Good luck!

You posted that "suddenly the stove decided not to work". I'm assuming that means everything worked fine in the hours/days just before.

Aside from the hints submitted by others, are you sure the LP gas detector is still functioning okay. On my unit there is a green flashing light to indicate it is working. Without it working, it will stop the flow of gas to everything as is designed.

Have you verified the fridge switches over and runs on gas okay.....or have you verified the furnace works okay?

I do not see the model number of your unit so.

Is the stove in a slide?

I hate to do the "Well DUH" suggestion, but did you turn your propane tank ON? If so, never mind.

None of the top burners light. The Microwave/Convection work fine. Yes, I've used it this year. We are full-timers and this problem just started.

JOE GA,

Thanks for your response. I think it might be the regulator you are talking about on the stove. The indicators differ but I doubt both of them would be bad. I would assume the one on the tank outside would be more accurate so we probably have a half tank of propane in there. I am not sure how to turn the gas off at the tank. I'll have to investigate that again in the morning.
