Ran out of propane

Need ideas. Should get to 28 tonite it's (378xl) I have artic pacs on and a lamp on outside of fridge should I put a lamp in the compartment where the hose connections are ,it is in a very sealed metal building

A freezer is a Sealed Metal Box,what is the Temp inside that Metal Building? Youroo!!

Are you saying that when you have propane the TT furnace runs & exhausts inside the sealed metal building? IMO you are better-off having a couple small electric heaters that you keep on low...

Not sealed that good and no one is in it just don,t want anything to freeze

Since you have electricity as mentioned for your light electric heaters would help.

If you just getting down to 28 degrees - I wouldn't worry much. I believe your 378 and our 351 have mostly PEX plumbing. PEX is way more resistant to burst that standard PVC or copper tubing. The biggest worry (if you've got your Arctic Pack turned on) is you're probably gonna need a hose that is not frozen in the morning. I believe your unit has heat strips - so turn 'em on and take a good chilly sleep.

Buy yourself a couple of these and put them fore & Aft in your MH and you will be good to go!

The nice thing about this model is DeLonghi has a "Freeze" setting: the heater will turn on automagically when the temp drops below 44º

I have been staying in my Cherokee 284 BH for several months while I work away from home. I have a radiator style heater (oil filled) that does a good job of keeping my camper 68-70 degrees inside. My gas heat (thermostat set on 67) comes on about once a night when the temps get in the low 30's. I have the winter package which has the underneath sealed and insulated. I still open the cabinets where the water is located at night. I have my electric heater on a timer. it comes on at 5:30 PM and cuts off at 10AM. I have a light also attached to the timer so I can check at a glance to see if the timer is working. It took a while to find a timer with three prong outlets. Depending on the size of your camper, I think an electric heater would be a good solution. I got mine at Walmart for under $50. Its basically the same heater that HSVBamaBob listed except it doesn't have the thermostat.

I don't understand...
You're living in your unit ? or it is in storage in a sealed metal building ?
If in storage, why not just winterize and blow the lines way cheaper and worry free.

Shut off your water pump and open all your faucets. That way, freezing pipes will not burst as easily. Additionally, 28 degrees isn't so cold as to freeze the tanks unless it is sustained for a long time.


I had a pickup slid-in camper with PEX plumbing freeze in sub-zero weather and nothing broke. As bigben says, that type of tubing is more forgiving.


If your really concerned and can't supply some other heat, consider winterizing your rig.

Turn your article pac on for sure which should heat your underbelly water connections just fine.....I just went through 22 degree weather with electric water heater on and make sure you unplug from the city water supply and let the hose drain as that will freeze and expand as well.
