Range vent hood exhausts inward

My Georgetown 341 microwave/range hood exhausts inward through filters. I had one like this in a house and it worked poorly. With the small volume of a motorhome, every time I cook breakfast sausage I am guaranteed a smoke alarm and a sausage smell all day. The installation instructions on the microwave show that it can be configured for either inward or external exhaust. Every RV (5) that I have owned previously has had an external exhaust. This seems a little cheap. Does anyone have input on feasiblity of retrofitting an exterior exhaust vent?

The problem with trying to change the exhaust to the rear is the possible location of one of the upright main wall supports. Some fans are not convertible as well. I'm sure they look at it that it's one less hole to cut and seal. You would need to contact FR about where the metal stud is located. I'm sure it's probably dead center, at least that how things usually work out. We have the same set up and just use the fantastic fan when I'm cooking to help with the heat as well as the smells. I usually have the window cracked a little as well.

They did the same on our Cardinal 5th wheel. I wonder if main wall stud would be directly in line with cutout. Will have to check if it is in the way. I'd rather not cut it.
