As I recall the backs of the recliner come off (mine do) some I have read about break down into 4 pieces which would make it easy for one person to put them in.

Getting the old one out may be the bigger problem.

Ours broke down into 5 pieces. Two backs, two seats and the center console. Caution: when you get your new seating ensure it is the "wall-away" style so it can be placed very close to your wall. Ours sits only about half an inch away from the wall and the front frame of the seating just barely sits on the front edge of the slide. I attached the new seating to the slide using conduit hangers slipped over the seating frame and screwed to the slide floor. Sooooo much better than that crap couch....

We replaced our and yes it has to be disassembled to fit into the door, we also took out the dinning table and euro chair. We moved the couch where table was and the new recliners where the couch was. We never ate at the dinning room table so this arrangement works best for us. we also purchased end tables.
