Replacing broken skylights

So both of my skylights have become brittle and are broken. Duct tape is the only thing preventing the rainwater from coming in. Does anyone have experience replacing the cover that moves up and down? Any tips or tricks? Where is the best place to get the parts?

Very easy to replace. Just disconnect the lifting arm, move vent straight up and lift off. You can get them at an RV dealer. Take the old one with you as there are different styles.

After you replace the actual covers, install Maxx Air vent covers over them, again ~ very easy.
With the Maxx Air, you can leave the roof vents open without worry of rain and also protects the new covers from future sun damage.

Sounds great! Thanks! I was concerned I'd have to pull the frame out too.

Pretty easy, and put Maxxair covers over them while you're up there. We have smoke colored.

Maxxairs come in different 'colors' and styles.
First, make sure to find the style which fit over your vents.
After that, you can choose the 'color' you may like the best ~ solid white (light will still come thru, not as bright), smoke (almost like sunglasses), black (blocks a lot of light) and on google ~ I found champagne (no clue about light blockage).

You'll have to remove the knob or crank and the trim on the inside to get it to come out. If you're not going to get the Max Aire....look for the UV resistant covers on-line. Got mine...and new seals...check seals...they can dry and crack...I got mine from etrailer.

I second the UV covers. One of our 5th wheels had 5 vents, if I remember correctly. I purchased four Maxairr covers. I thought I'd eventually get to the last one. I never did. Well that's a lie about 4-5 years later I did after it cracked all to pieces.
