Residential refrigerator

K, first trip in 360 other than bringing it home. Stop to get gas and hubby says fridge door popped open and food overturned and fell out. Straps were in place - hooked on both sides thru door handles. This happen to anybody else? Solution?

I'm assuming you have the Frigidaire residential fridge. We took ours from OH to FL and back and never used the straps. We had jugs of milk and juice for the boys and the doors never opened even on turns, etc. To be honest, we totally forgot we had the straps since I put them away in who knows which compartment. Tell your hubby it's not a Corvette. LOL

Has happened to us also. Fridge is on street side, so it happens when making a sharp right turn. Using a couple of flexible straps with velcro ends pulled tight. Seems to work so far.

I went out and found the straps and installed them. This is as far as I can open the doors with the straps on. More than that and you'd have to put an awful lot of force.

That looks like a great use for Velcro Onewrap.

We use it for *everything*.

You know, I was just looking at the picture and I think the problem will be solved if you go over the handles instead of under. That'll make the straps tighter.

Safety 1st Décor Side By Side Cabinet Lock

This is the one we use and it works great. Got it at target.

We tried over the handles on our first outing and the doors flew open when I had to make a sharp right. Now under the handles and it's come open a little but not enough to drop anything.

Yep, learned two things about that refridgerator our first trip out.
#1 Leave all the soft drinks in their original cartons
#2 Make slower turns
We weren't too sure about having the residential refridgerator at first but love it now

velcro

got a roll of velcro at Lowes...use it with the straps that came with the fridge. Learned the hard way, took a right turn and things started jumping out. We also try not to put a lot of heavy things in the door shelves while traveling.
