This is the DUMBEST thing I've ever heard of, but if you're too short to reach through the screen door, I guess it's the next best thing to using a magnet or installing a switch.
This did not work for me. When I turn off the battery disconnect it kills the battery. I just closed the screen door and then hit the battery disconnect.

I keep a step stool in the bin by the door. We use it anyway to reach ceiling fans and roof items but it is a major pain in the butt. At least the stairs are safe when the vehicle is left in storage.
